So we made these tubs a few weeks ago using Large Doses Pesa Grow Log. We didn't use grain, we used BRF, crumbled into the sub. This is how it was looking. One is Stropharia, the other Taz.
I took these shots on the 5th. These are how they look now. This is only the taz. The stroph has not yet began to pin. TAKEN ON THE 8TH!!
Now these guys are tending to lay down, and suggestions?? Also should we be misting to keep the coir hydrated??

I dont think you need to be misting. From what Ive read mono-tubs love neglact and the casing layer provides your moisture. But ive never used a mono-tub, Well not YET...Its my next project

I know monotubs are supposed to be set and forget but I would start fanning and misting 3 x's a day because your results will only improve ya know. I haven't done monotubs but I use a greenhouses with trays. One of my trays looks like it will yielf more then this tub SO FAR. What are the conditions in the room like? Do you have a fan turn on 3x's a day for FAE?

This is what are room looks like...
We have a small ceramic heater running to keep the temp @ 80. A box fan that runs on low for air circulation. An Ionic Pro to help purify, and the rest I think you can see in the photos.

Im pretty sure there full spectrum, theres a window in the room that lets in a lot of light during the day. THey started pinning on the 5th. After about 10 days worth of incubation.

I would open the blind to get a little more sunlight in. Unless those are grow bulbs in the daylight range they are going to do much for you. Also maybe try taking the lids off and using saran wrap to cover so the light gets in the top; I have read on the boards somewhere that while the mushies do not use sunlight for energy they do use it to tell them when and which way to grow (not sure if that is true just what i have read.) Did you use trash bags to prevent side pinning? I think the yields of my first tub were seriously affected by side pinning.

I didnt use trash bags, to much room for error. Instead I spray painted the outside lower part of the tubs solid black. I still wish I could figure out why they keep falling over.

Thin hollow stems, possibly due to not enough air exchange.

I've got a monotub going and, God Have Mercy, I hope I get more of a crowd than you've gotten so far. I hope you get some more too.

look up humidity gap, i thought trash bags were for the same thing too. also i'm no pro but your light doesnt look like its getting a good coverage over all the tub, especially since you blackout the bottoms. looks as if most of your guys grew infront of your poly, maybe remove some for more fae
i just finished my first flush of my first grow. to start my problem way lack of Fae, so i pointed a fan at it and they started developing much faster, so far a little over 3ounces dry, i dunked for 24hrs and am just waiting now, guess it can be somewhere between 4 to like 10 day for'em to start again....anyway good job, you got something! at least your cherrys popped!

How big of holes did you drill for polyfill?
In a tub those size you want atleast a 1" hole but preferably 2". Also, you want the poly to be in a little loose, not a tightly wadded ball, a loose fit.
Best of luck in your endeavors. Keep experimenting with different variables. No matter how much you read on the forums here, experience is the best learning tool!

Next time when you do your spawn run, cover the entire tub with a black trash bag to reduce air flow into the tubs. This provides CO2 buildup which equals quicker colonization. Your sub is still partially colonized. I tub done right will be entirely colonized in 10 days.
Other reason why the tub didnt produce many fruits was due to not using grain in the substrate. Im surpised it didnt contam.
Mushrooms always grow on the edges on the tubs. They do this in nature too.. they grow on the edges of the myc patches. They tend to grow towards your holes also because they're breathing organisms just like you and I. If you were in a box wouldnt you live better next to the fresh air? lol

Thanks for all the input. We did use coffee, just like in the grow log. Big up for grounds for your garden. Also the holes are at about 2 inches with loose stuffed poly. Next round we will be using millet to spawn. Also LC to start. I am also surprised that crumbling BRF cakes didn't contam. The taz is looking a lot better today. It's continuing to pin. It just didn't happen all at once like we had hoped.
Now I've seen where people have said they would "dunk" there tubs...How exactly do you do that??

i got pvc pipe, cut to the width of the tub, remove poly/vents, run pvc across the tub through the holes, then place in the tub, make it level. then just turn on the cold water and let it trickle into the tub for 12-24hrs, drain, the resume fruiting. dont remove any pins that didnt develop, some cube pin for the first couple of flushes, so the ones that dont grow are your pins for the second flush.
