Amanita Muscaria mishap. :(
    #10457642 - 06/05/09 12:03 AM (14 years, 9 months ago)

I found a patch of... oh, about thirty Amanita Muscaria mushrooms in my forest one day picked them, and then later tossed them aside believing they "probably weren't active." I have found several of this particular mushroom since that day and have acted similarly. I apologize to all for my ignorance. I was foolish and had no idea what I was wasting.

That being said: is there any look-alikes at all to Amanita Muscaria? Because there is a lot mor of them in my forest if I'm not mistaken.

My understanding is that Amanitas in the PNW that have the classical red cap with white scales along with the appropriate volva characteristics are pretty much a "sure thing" to be what you think they are. :regularshroom:

That being said.  Make sure you're thoroughly versed on the difference between a deliriant and a psychedelic before you embark on this adventure.  :psychsplit:

None of which grow in the PNW.

Correct..
If you stick to the red and white form in the PNW, your virtually assured a geniune fly agaric.

The yellow form is rarer in the PNW.
