Believers of Proof, I have a challenge.

I won't seek to disprove you, so it's all you.
The challenge:
Prove to me that you can prove something.
Ask yourself, is proof merely acceptable definition?

I see proof as a supporting explanation for whatever given phenomenon.

What would constitute a proof to you ?
In a formal system one can always reject any axiom as unconvincing.
As for more empirical sciences, one merely acknowledge a theory together with the regularity of a perception, predicted or corroborated, as "best proof as of yet". But nothing proves me the sun will rise tomorrow.
The power of a proof goes hand in hand with regularity, but indeed this is no proof one can prove anything.
But more importantly, a "proof" must be more than a simple ostensive definition, it must make itself manifest in our use of it, in the dynamic structure of the environment we surrounds ourselves with, giving it a life of its own.

The fact that science works is proof that we can proof something eventho it is based on a system of belief we invented ourselves and which is based on nothing.
So.. what did I win?

We can't prove anything for certain, but we can prove as best as we can, and we use that proof to efficiently function in the world.

I really doubt that that is possible. You can always deny our attempts by claiming it not to be acceptable proof. Logic itself isn't something that can be explained. The user must understand it. Logic and proof doesn't come to a person (although it may come close). In the end, a person must reach out to grasp the rational. If he/she doesn't want to that's his/her choice.
Hope this makes sense, but I doubt it will.

Excellent post

My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Profane things are easily proven. My knife will/was/is able to cut a ripe mango fruit on earthly conditions now +/- 5 years... I even can make predictions/retrospections on that...
btw, one always needs a hypothesis first, then the proof follows.
