If we legalize pot then all the cartels wont be making money off smuggling weed into this country, so in theory all the weed smugglers will convert to harder drugs and there for we will have an increase of hard drugs in this country

That's like saying it's a good thing we invaded Iraq so we can fight the "terrorists" over there instead over here. In the end it still makes it wrong and fucking stupid.
Besides most of the weed, at least in my area is domestic and locally grown. Seriously... how the fuck did we go from smoking pot is supporting terrorism (you know Arab motherfuckers) to now smoking pot is supporting Mexican rape and murder gangs. Could we at least agree which evil groups of fucking we're supporting when I blaze the chronic that my neighbor down the street grew?
And seriously legalize it, tax the fuck out of it, and spend that money on health care, social security, and drug treatment programs. But that too much fucking sense.

if there were more of the hard drugs that doesn't necessarily mean there will be more addicts. those who don't want to do the hard drugs still won't do them.

All the weed worth smoking is grown in the US already (i don't even think much is smuggled in because its easy to cultivate except the mexican shite that comes) and there are plenty of hard drugs already in the country but even if your theory is true then more hard drugs in the country = less price per unit of hard drugs. Win win in my eyes.

I think people will be so concerned with their legal marijuana that they're smoking, they won't NEED the cartels anymore. Try as they might, people will be content with just buying a blunt at a local smoke shop.

I don't understand why people think that an increase in hard drugs means more addicts. I most likely could get hard drugs, but I have no interest in them and I never will. People assume that making coke legal is going to make everyone into a cokehead.

Increasing supply doesn't always increase demand. Just a whole lot of unused or slowly liquidated inventory.

More supply and the same demand makes for cheaper prices.

The demand may just decrease with legalization of marijuana. And that won't affect the manufacturing price of harder drugs. Why buy more stock when you have a significantly smaller customer base?

If california goes threw with legalizing weed like they may do, do you think there will be major border control for california? I could only assume there would be some sort of monitoring

People will do the drugs that they do regardless of what laws are imposed on them; I don't think legalization of weed is going to turn a whole populace into junkies, and I seriously don't see the reasoning/logic behind that.

I never said that all I said was the need to import weed will be gone there for the cartels will switch to illigal drugs and I never said people will be junkies because of this just that there will be more of the harder drugs thats all fuck for all I know the drug rate may dwindle who the fuck knows until it happens

Well it was implied that with an increase of hard drugs there would be an increase in consumption of those hard drugs when that's actually highly unlikely. Maybe the cartels will consider a job making an honest buck for all we know. But whether or not they choose to dig themselves a deeper hole by stocking up on harder drugs, the consumption rate probably will not increase, and will actually decrease upon legalization.

They most likely will switch to illegal drugs, but I still think that people will generally stick to their drug of choice. But like you said, who the fuck knows until it happens...
