How hard is it to learn? Me and my girlfriend are about to take it next year in college but I wanted to get a head start. Does rossetta stone work at all?

What if I just watch a bunch of french shows for babies? lol.

It's pretty easy. I find a lot of it ties into English so it's not so drastic after awhile. But then it's really hard at the same time.

Audio programs are nice but you all should look into taking a couple college courses around your area as well.

I'm learning right now.

I don't recommend Rosetta Stone, I found it really boring.  IMO learning has to be fun, or you won't be excited enough to keep moving.

Take a class!  I never really got anywhere until I did that.  Google "Alliance Française [your city]"

I also found Michel Thomas' audio program to be super useful.

If you want to speak it and get the pronunciation right then go for Pimsleur audio lessons, they're pretty reputable.

Yeah French isn't hard to speak but the grammar is a fucking pain in the ass. In elementary school I had this French teacher, Madamme Jaceinte, I swear Ive never seen anything who loved grammar so much. She'd always get so excited when it came to grammar and was always like, On fait la Grammaiiiiire

Moi je parle et comprend le Francais tres bien par ce que j'habite au Quebec tabarnakkkk!

It's funny to see Americans learn or understand French, all my relatives in the states don't understand FUCK all or able to say anything in French, it's like some super hard language for them

Wait till you get to Quebec it gets even more confusing. They break French up into more distinct separations it seems. There is Parisian which is standard classical french, but then there is something called Joual which is the distinct quebec variation on the french language.

No I was speaking in general to anyone outside Canada and unfamiliar with the differences, I would assume you would already know this living in Quebec. It would be like explaining the word "Y'all" to someone who doesn't speak English.

Oh and uhh...congratulations....ya cheese eating surrender monkey
