In vitro pinning, anything to do but birth?
    #10365971 - 05/19/09 07:15 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Here's the situation,

2 out of 6 BRF jars within the last 24 hours have started pinning in vitro. It appears that another 1 or 2 of the jars are headed in the same direction as well.

But here's the deal, they JUST finished colonizing the entirety of the jars (visually at least) and I was hoping to leave them in for another week to consolidate and whatnot. I also wanted to leave them in for another 5-7 days because this weekend I'm going out of town for 2 or 3 days.

These things are so far ahead of the time frame I expected that I didn't plan accordingly.

I won't be around for 3 days to pick fruits if I was to spawnbirth them this week.. but I also don't want the wee lil' shrooms already popping up in the jars to rot or something.

Should I be fine leaving them with in vitro pinning for 5-7 days? Or am I left with no other choice but to spawnbirth pretty soon.

i would birth them now....
but since you say that you cannot do that..just wait the 5-7 days then pick the pins and dunk + roll.
just my opinion.

By "spawn" do you mean "birth and fruit"?  Spawning would mean crumbling them to colonize more substrate.  If that's what you're doing then now is the perfect time.

My apologies, I'm new to this and still don't have all the lingo down.

By spawn I mean pop them out of the jar, dunk for 24 hrs and put into a Shotgun FC. I suppose "birth" would have been the correct verbatim.

I'm following RR's Videos to a tee.

I figured that's what you meant.  If the jars JUST finished colonizing then definitely give them that extra 5-7 days to consolidate, even with some in vitro pinning.  You'll get a better flush and it works with your schedule too.  Don't worry those pins won't rot.
