The wasps are back...

It would appear the wasps are back to their nest constructing ways. This time they have chosen behind the power outlet on the outside of my patio wall dividing inside and outside. As you might imagine, this is a real pain in the ass.
1) Is my apartment complex responsible for removing it? 2) If not (1), how would I remove it without getting electrocuted or getting maimed by a gillion wasps?

My advice?
Stay away from it.
If you don't fuck with them, they won't sting you.
I've been stung exactly once in my life, and it was because an injured bee fell into my shirt when I was like 7. There are always wasps flying around in my backyard and every summer I watch them collect mud, but they never sting me.

Your apartment complex is TOTALLY responsible for removing it. All they need is a can of wasp insecticide and a brave maintenance dude.

That sounds reasonable for a backyard; however, I have about a 10' by 4' patio on the third floor. Being that I smoke cigs out there, I think it is only a matter of time before I am stung - whether I aggravate them or not.

Oh, patio. I misread that. I was thinking it was at the bottom of your stairwell or something, or just on the outside of your apartment, not actually RIGHT on your patio... sorry.

It falls under maintenance of the house. The apartment complex should hire an exterminator.

Bullshit.
Every time I have been stung by a wasp, I was just walking by a nest I knew nothing about. They are very territorial creatures. All it takes is you walking into someplace they consider 'theirs' and you are a target.

Those are not wasps. They look like a wasp but they are dirt dobbers. They build their nest outta mud and it looks like a long dirt tube. A wasp nest is generally circular with hexagonal tubes in it that they lay their eggs.
OP, the best way to get rid of the wasps is to buy some wasp and hornet spray. It will spray a heavy stream up to 30 feet away. They will drop like flies if even a little poison gets on them.
Wasps LOVE hot weather, and are much more aggressive if it is hot. Do it now before it gets real hot. Also you will wanna kill them early in the morning before it gets warm.
I have had to do this many times and this is the best way to get rid of them IME

Straight from wiki-

This may be true but I have never heard of a dirt dobber stinging anyone
EVER.

they're definitely in the wasp family. just a non-aggresive one. they are very common around here. they may have the capability to sting, but i too have never heard of anyone being stung. i've fucked with them many times without the threat of being stung.

I have done the same thing. They are harmless.
If you ever see a big red one....leave him ALONE. In the heat of the summer, he will sting you just because he can.

Like said, wasp and hornet poison, from 30ft away, aim for the exit and keep spraying.

Yep. Use Raid. It'll kill the hell out of them from a good distance.
