i know everyones got their own opinions on what works and what doesnt. what one should do and what one shouldnt. i need some opinions now.
planning on spawning 1/4 pint pf tek jars to pasteurized coir or Hpoo or both. preferably both.
just nocced up 10 1/4 pint jars. 1cc per jar. EQ strain.
what would you do with these if they were yours?
i have a few ideas planed and i might try a few different approaches. just to see what works for me in my space/setup.
mini-tub. w/polyfill trays in a shotgun. mini-tub using 3 litre poland spring bottle. (think monotub shotgun hybrid?) possibly make a mini shotgun for each and fruit each cake seperately not sure....
how quick do you think these will be ready to birth and spawn? need some good feedback/problem solving. IDEAS and OPINIONS please. -thanks

I would fruit the cakes. BRF cakes don't make great spawn. I haven't seen very many successful attempts at it, including myself.
The sooner you get a PC and some WBS the better! It's sooooo easy!!foomans easy ass method

man do i wish i was on that level. cant afford it and have only seen broken used PC's. trust me ive looked. i refuse to pay 50 bucks for a tiny presto crackboiler.
theres no reason why brf cakes cant colonize a bulk sub. if its filled w/ live active healthy mycelium.

I did a simple mini tub.. got an ounce.. dry.. and should have done better.. but might as well just go shot gun if you are buying containers any way.. GL!

I agree. Just make sure you break up the cakes into really small pieces. I've seen chunks of cake start to fruit before the substrate has a chance to colonize.
Good luck!

They make 6qt little tubs that you can buy... about the size of a shoebox. I got a bunch on sale for a dollar. With just over a quart of spawn that you will have, you could spawn a couple of these minitb style and get a bunch of fruit. My 2 cents You can use brf cakes as spawn

10 1/4 pints equal 5 1/2 pint jars. same thing, only hopefully close to half the colonization time. once spores germinate, that is. and yeah, half the amount of spawn so..... then spawn to bulk. basically a mini-bulk strategy. plus i couldnt find glass 1/2 pint wide mouth jars.... so i just went this route. think half yield, half size, same system. why wouldnt it work the same only smaller? wish me luck!

Theres no reason why cakes shouldnt colinise bulk substrate unless something was wrong with the cakes, the substrate or the methods.
this is what im plannin on doing too since i cant even afford a cheap small pressure cooker at the moment.
1/4 pints actually perform really well as cakes, ive seen them do just aswell as 1/2 pints, the yeild that i seen wasnt to much different than a have pint. Obviously it has lesss moisture and less substrate so you will get a little less but it wasnt much less.
just need to make up twice as many quarter pints.
Im planning on using mini doouble tubs, as i can make them very cheap, no perlite. Personaly id rather fruit them in trays in a shotgun fruiting chamber though. But both work.

sounds like a plan. lets rock the 1/4 pints in the meantime! thanks for the info and encouragement. everyone. @ veda. Q: why do you think a shotgun with trays is better than a mini-tub? reasons please. i can do either one. the perlite will cost me extra but whats an extra 20 bucks? these things are practically worth their weight in gold. actually technically they are priceless so.....
