PF Tek + Monotub (as terrarium)? Or what?

So I am about to embark on my first grow ever.
I am just doing a small PF Tek (probably 6 jars) and will probably never grow using a different method. My needs are small, and I only need enough for me and a couple of others.
The only part I haven't planned out yet is the fruiting chamber/terrarium. I won't be able to take care of it several times a day because of my work schedule, so something that I can just sort of forget about or check every few days would be perfect. Here are my needs:
1. Cheap 2. Low-maintenance 3. PF Tek compatibility 4. Compact (no larger than the standard monotub)
What would your recommendations be? I can't mist/fan it several times a day. Like I said, it needs to be able to maintain itself for a while. Has anyone used a monotub before as a fruiting chamber for PF Tek cakes? If not, is it worth a try? Any advice or other recommendations welcome.
Thanks so much,
Kib

By monotub, I assume you mean a big plastic tub right?
What else would you birth your cakes into? ;-)
I assume the tub is big enough to fit the cakes correct?
Drill a few holes in the tub about 2 inches from the bottom, several around the entire tub. Stuff these holes with some polyfil.
Get some perlite, put a 1 inch layer on the bottom of the tub, wet it with water so the water level is about half way up the perlite, 1/2 inch or so. Rinse the perlite first as well, so its all damp.
Birth the fully colonized (important they be fully colonized!!!) cakes into the tub, you can set them directly onto the perlite. Mist the inside surfaces of the tub lightly, to boost humidity at first. The perlite will evap the water to take care of humidity the rest of the time. The holes will allow CO2 build up to drain out (CO2 is heavier than O2.)
Leave the lid on loosely, no big gaps but slightly loose, to allow air to entire the top, and to keep the humidity from getting TOO high. You don't want standing water droplets on the cakes, if you see this, its too moist.
Let em sit. Fan out the chamber whenever you can, every few days would be fine.
You can put hydrogen peroxide into the water in the perlite as well, this will keep down any contams from growing into the water/perlite. Keep the perlite moist, add a bit of water if needed when you check on em. Keep the tub out where it can get some light.
Thats about it. They will fruit nicely. Note that if you only check on it every few days, you may come back to fully mature fruits with spores everywhere. Once you see pins growing (baby mushrooms, look like maggots with a red nose) keep an eye on it. They grow very fast.
Chop em up and toss in a nice salad with dressing of your choice. They taste great.
Just searched up a thread that shows exactly what I'm talking about:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9686229#9686229
Basically its PF tek, thats how you do it.
There are much more rewarding and easier methods out there, once you have some experience under your belt. Enjoy!

Thanks very much for the reply.
I'll try to document my grow with photos to help out other first-timers in the future.
PF Tek + Monotub = Great success.

DOn't set the cakes directly on the perlite. Set them on some small pieces of foil. But you can set them directly on the perlite but not recommended. Just look up the Shotgun Fruiting chamber. FAnning and misting needs to be done at least twice a day.You could do that when you gte up and before you go to bed. Fanning and lighting is what triggers pinning. Misting is what replaces the water that has evaporated.

Sorry, dude. I know it can be done w/out fanning and misting twice a day and that's specifically what I was asking for in this thread.
I'll use the foil to keep the cakes off the perlite, though.

You might want to take a look at RR's shotgun terrarium set up.
It seems to be one of the most effective and easy to make fruiting chamber for cakes.
I was gonna try it, but change my goals and will go bulk;)

Thanks for all the help guys.
And for the record, I did try searching. I had figured everything out except for the fruiting chamber, and then all my searches came up with irrelevant stuff that wasn't quite answering my question.
I guess it could have been my fault, not knowing exactly what to type in.
Thanks for the patience everyone.

Ordered my syringe today. Found the brown rice flour. I still need to get some Vermiculite and Perlite (the local Target garden center didn't have any).
I also need to find some of the proper jars, either: Ball 1/2 Pint Jelly Ball Reg. Mouth 1/2 Pint Canning Kerr Wide Mouth 1/2 Pint Canning
I went to probably 4 separate grocery stores with no success... any advice?

Maybe a health food store, you could call and ask if they have canning supplies.

kibantik, if you are doing the PF Tek, build a shotgun FC as someone linked for you. It is as low maintenance as you will possibly get. Do not follow the instructions of your first responder, he is describing a worse version of the shotgun concept.
