wet spots
    #10302829 - 05/07/09 02:18 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

I have a couple of jars that developed some small looking wet spots and I set'em aside cause they looked contaminated.  But now it looks like the mycelium have overcome the spots so are the jars ok to spawn? thanks cm

Naw. forgot to mention rye grain jars.  i have not smelled it yet to see if it has sweet apple smell. Should case the jar and see or use it for spawn?

I wouldn't case the jar... I'd say fuck it and try to spawn it to something... hell, a 50lb bag of manure/hummus mix is only like 5$ around here and that works alright.

Just go ahead and prepare to spawn to bulk. Then smell the jars when you open them. If they smell fresh and mushroomy you are good to go. If they smell odd you'll realize it right away. Contaminated jars always smell appalling.

Sorry, I need to add that I meant jars that sport bacterial contamination.
