Stupid poetry

Am I the only one who hates 'poetry' that's basically rambling with no real message and just sounds artsy because the person uses big words and crappy grammar? I fucking hate that shit. It's an excuse for stuck up wanna be english nerds to use big words they probably don't understand themselves so they can impress girls who also don't understand a word of it and think it's good because of the big words and crap grammar!

i hate the poetry that only makes since to the reader - especially stuff like emily dickinson wrote. there are few poems/poets that actually directly discuss what they are feeling with the reader.

depends. I mean . . if the person is actually stupid, then yes. If the poetry seems artsy because the person uses large words and chooses to bend the rule of grammar and I can find some wicked-badass meaning behind it . . then onward!

Maybe the poser of the pieces you speak of, didnt care if anyone understood? When some reach deep in there minds, what they bring back may be so infallible of words, that only by being there with them can you understand. Bardic poetry awoken me.

I hate just about all poetry. Call me uncultured, call me whatever. I don't care. Fuck poetry.
As Jimmy Pop from The Bloodhound Gang said "I'm about as deep as the plot in an amateur gay porn."

In my opinion poetry can be one of the most profound forms of art.
But there is a LOT of crap out there. I think that with the advent of free verse, modern poetry has deteriated into mearly emotional ejaculation with no sense of art. Most modern poets seem ignorant of all that tools available to add power and profundaty to verse.
The truth is, wtiting a piece of verse where every piece; meter, line, puncuation, syntaxe, diction, imagry, etc. comes together to form a coherient whole is REALLY FUCKING HARD. And most people in out modern culture think of art as mearly in the moment emotional expression, instead of a skill that is honed by years of hard work.
There is still some good modern poets writing good stuff but you have to dig for them. And in the end it all comes down to taste and opinion. But some peoples personal opinions are crap and their taste is shit. Not that I'm an elitest or anything.
Here is some poetry by some modern poets that I have been getting into reciently I hope you all can enjoy them as well.
Moment Now, starflake frozen on the windowpane All of a winter night, the open hearth Blazing beyond Andromeda, the sea- Anemone and the downwind seed, O moment Heastening, halting in a clockwise dust, The time in all the hospitals is now, Under the arc-lights where the sentry walks His lonely wall it never moves from now, The crying in the cell is also now, And now is quiet in the tomb as now Explodes inside the sun, and it is now In the saddle of space, where argosies of dust Sail outward blazing, and the mind of God, The flash across the gap of being, thinks In the instant absence of forever: now. Howard Nemerov
Flambeau Jared Carter
There, where the pool of mortal light begins to gather, where the rivulet breaks free to make a fire, a flame blows in the wind.
This is no easy rising—odds and ends of nothingness to stir, darkness to seize there where the pool of mortal light begins.
Many have doubted, many refused to bend to such simplicity, down on their knees to make a fire. A flame blows in the wind
and casts its shadow where it will. To fend away the cold—time’s unremitting freeze— there where the pool of mortal light begins
a single spark will do, if it but lend the necessary fury to the fallen trees to make a fire: a flame blows in the wind.
Nothing can summon that which has no end and no beginning. Yet flesh can blend, there where the pool of mortal light begins, to make a fire. A flame blows in the win
Geodes
They are useless, there is nothing to be done with them, no reason, only
the finding: letting myself down holding to ironwood and the dry bristle of roots
into the creekbed, into clear water shelved below the outcroppings, where crawdads spurt
through silt; clawing them out of clay, scrubbing away the sand, setting them in a shaft of light
to dry. Sweat clings in the cliff's downdraft. I take each one up like a safecracker listening
for the lapse within, the moment crystal turns on crystal. It is all waiting there in darkness.
I want to know only that things gather themselves with great patience, that they do this forever.

Adrift
Two astronauts, no com, with mirrored bubble helmets. A notepad is the only thing they share. Each toss imparts a little push, and each catch speeds their parting, until a miss and now they watch each other twist a bit, and shrink as they recede.

I really don't like poems at all. I hate it when people purposely try to be deep, then want me to read it to show me their supposed souls. Feelings scare me.

Im just saying that most of what people have been exposed to in this culture is shit.
There is nothing wrong with poetry, there is something very wrong with shit poetry.
And yes you can judge "personal expression" as shit.
personal expression =/= art

most poetry you see in school is god-awful because you kind of have to be smart to appreciate good poetry, and most people are not. schools aren't going to teach things that only 10% of the class will understand, instead they dumb it down so they can at least get everyone on board.
