I have been reading a lot of grow journals and I noticed that some will pasteurize by bring water to boil then poring it over the bagged sub and letting it sit for 90 min to 3 hours. Others say pasteurize at 150 for 90 min still others say 180 for 12 hours by changing what twice. Shit do they all work?? whats the best temp and time???????

Its my understanding that it is best to do lower temps for longer times IE..150f for 2-3 hours.
i havent noticed a difference...i do 170f for 90min....
ive even just boiled water and poured it over the sub...this worked fine too.

175 for 90 minutes always works for me. I use wbs spawned to h.poo/coir(roughly 75/25). I used Docs tek for wbs and Agars tek for poo. I soak the sub in a 20qt tub for 2 or so hours, the try to get the the substrate to the proper moisture content(a few drops when squeezed). Then I place the sub. in a Reynolds turkey oven bag and tie it off. Place in pot with candy thermometer and place a weight of some sort so the entire bag is submerged. Get the temp to 175 and wait 90 minutes. Then poke hole and let drain/cool overnight. Use next day.
I usually have to play with the temp. guages to get it "right" and squeezing the poo for hours really gets old but the rewards are insightful. Good luck

I asked RR about this recently, and in his opinion the best pasteurisation temperature is anything between 140F and 160F. The length of time will depend on the method you use, for example it will take a little longer if you use the oven tek (2-3 hours). I've never heard of a pasteurization taking 12 hours. Can you post a link to it?

Aaah! That's because he is talking about heating up a whole shed which is obviously going to take a lot longer than heating up a pot for instance. Also, if you are pasteurizing in water, it has a higher rate of heat transfer than air does, so it will be quicker. It is better to heat it for longer than necessary than not long enough.
