So you're telling me that you can pick a habaƱero of your plant and start munching on it no problem.  You can enjoy it and want something hotter....  That my friend is "Sick"  I love spicy foods and enjoy jalapeƱo's and Serrano's fresh off the plant with my food.  HabaƱeros though....  I can cook with them, but can't just sit there and munch on it.  There is a point where a chili is soo hot that it is "Not enjoyable".

habaneros have a great taste before the heat kicks in, and i do it for the great rush that the capsicum pain brings

i munch on naga jolokia chiles, which are much hotter than habaneros, and actually find their taste even more appealing.

My best advice is to not swallow these kinds of peppers, just chew them up and spit it out, or soak in some vinegar or something and make a nice infusion to put on crackers :crazy2:

some naga jolokia and garlic infused vinegar on some cream cheese and crackers is great

i find it a lot less stressful on the body when you don't swallow the pepper

otherwise it can burn just as much coming out as it did going in :mad2:

I guess that's what I meant by it being "Enjoyable".  When I eat Jalapenos, I enjoy the TASTE of the pepper and the spice it brings to the meal.  When I eat Serranos's I definitely enjoy the TASTE and the "heat" is exciting.  HANANEROS THOUGH... I can only enjoy the taste for about a minute and then it's sooooo hot that it TASTES LIKE I ingested a CHEMICAL.  It seizes to taste like a chili and starts tasting like something unnatural and man made.  I know it may sound stupid, but it starts tasting like a chemical to me.

i understand what you mean.  At first though, before the burn sets in, don't habaneros taste nice and sweet almost like a bell pepper?

On multiple occasions I've eaten a habanero or a piece of a naga jolokia and just had to lay down after repeated attempts to kill the burn with milk and bread.  It just kept coming back more and more intense for about 30min at which point I felt my throat was going to close.

It's amazing, you feel so alive.
