Need Help Identifying - Southeast *PICS*
    #10154230 - 04/12/09 08:06 PM (15 years, 7 days ago)

Hi all!
I came across these growing in a pile of old hay near my garden. I understand there is a possible magic species that grows in hay... I live in Southeast TN, USA about 20 minutes from Georgia.

I'm having a hard time positively identifying these... can anybody help? I would especially like to know if they have any recreational properties.

Thanks so much and here are some pictures:

Well I don't know much about mushrooms from the area, but the only way I can see those being "recreational" is if they were a type of Gymnopilus. But then again, it could be a type of Galerina.... and it would KILL YOU DEAD! painfully of course
Make a real request with spore print color and what not, thats the only way we can help. But someone more familiar with mushrooms of the area would be of more help.

Conclusion: Don't eat it! and thats all I have to contribute :P

Not actives.  Maybe some Agrocybes.  You can see the brown spore deposit on some of the caps.

Keep looking.  Panaeolus cinctulus especially loves piles of hay, horse manure, and stable shavings.
