repeat cycle timer?

So I've seen a few repeat cycle timers in my price range. One is the encore timer that has 5sec - 30min on time and 5min - 8hr off time and the other is the "IGS-011 Repeat Cycle Timer with Photosensor" 30sec - 30min on time and 1min -12hr off time. I'm wondering if anyone here has had experience with either (or both?) of these timers. Would the 25sec of ontime the encore has over the IGS-011 make any difference? How is the quality of the unit you have? I am going to use this to run a humidifier.

To give you an idea on the cheaper front...I have an ultra sonic/bucket humidifier on a $20 15 minute increment timer. It keeps a consistent 80% RH with lots of FAE with the doors unzipped flapping open. If one were to add a cool mist it may go up...but thought you'd like to at least know that far.
The ultrasonic is on the timer where the fan is on 24/7 and I Just regulate how much air flows by plugging or opening the side of the fan.

I have an Encore pt-1700 and I wish I would have spent a little extra on a different one. My biggest problem with the Encore is that the dial gages are pretty much worthless. It takes lots of fiddling to get your cycle time and interval gap dialed in. Also the 5min to 8hr interval timer is actually about 7mins to 8hr. I can't remember what the other brand I looked at was but wish I had gone with that one instead. I think it was about $20-$30 more than the approx. $100 I spent on the Encore and who knows if it would have been better. I definitely would explore other options before I bought an Encore.

I have Z-Wave electronic controllers and a serial controller hooked up to a cheap little barebones PC running Homeseer software. At least I will, once I figure out how I'm going to handle air filtration indoors. For the moment I'm just using a cheap ultrasonic humidifier under plastic drop cloth stuff they sell at hardware stores, draped over some cheap wire shelving and secured with duct tape.
It wasn't cheap, but I went with the software because it's expandable, there are electronic hygrometers and thermostats available, and I'm familiar with various scripting languages for my work. I want to set up an outdoor screened enclosure and use the same controllers to regulate misting systems.
Wow, it's almost like I'm a pot farmer.

I'm looking through the Zwave site...and I'm guessing you'd couple a outdoor plug-in module with a Zwave recepticle? I mean...they have such a staggering amount of products, I'm friggin lost on which piece links to what and how. Do tell, I'm curious especially since you can program these do-dads. Farmer.

There's a seperate box that you attach to your PC that communicates with various devices. I'm just using appliance relay modules for turning the humidifier and fans off and on for now. I'll have to keep the RH up by just using a repeat cycle until I can find the right hygrometer. Most electronic ones don't seem to go above 70% RH.
Like I was saying, it's scalable, so I can keep using it as I expand into a permenant grow room, etc.

Yeah... thats the one I'm gonna go for too. Its a much better price at $85 than the other one I was looking at which was around $140. I think its the one RR uses... at least that is what he used a couple of years ago.

My new iGS-011 cycle timer just arrived in the mail. I haven't hooked it up yet but I've gotta say, this timer is very well built! Its made out of high quality plastic and control knobs move like butter. Right after it arrived I started getting buyers remorse and thinking that I needed to have the iGS-010 which gives more precision control with an on cycle down to 5 seconds. But price difference is $62! At $85 the iGS-011 is a steal. Overall is the right price and an high quality product. When I hook it up I'll let you all know how it works with my humidifier.

Nice find! If I could have found the iGS-010 cheaper I would have totally sprung for that one... maybe when I need to get another one!

I think you got the best one. Apparently humidify probes get messed up from large spore drops.
