Now 3 weeks no fruiting??? Feel like I've lost...

Posted this in another thread but seems no one is reading it...
It's been 15 days since I began fruiting, and nothing's happened! The first 5 was in a crappy cupboard FC with little FAE, before I moved it to my current set up...
What could I be doing wrong?
Shotgun terrarium in a warm room, natural indirect sunlight with the occasional few hours boost from a daylight CFL, good few inches of moist perlite, fan about 3 time + a day, mist whenever my digital hygrometer drops below 90%.
As for the cakes, they don't seem to be doing anything productive - however they are starting to slowly colonize the verm reservoir (tablepoon of verm to hold moisture) that I put on top. I've read somewhere that this is a sign of .... but I can't seem to find it!
I've had a few ideas that might help, wanted to check with you guys first though:
1) Stick a fan up against the FC so it blows through the holes creates constant fanning? Would this increase contamination risk though?
2) Run a dehumidifier in my FC room to increase transpiration rate from cakes to environment, using the FC as a kinda transitional stage between the dry air outside and the humid perlite... This would probably mean more misting. Could I dunk the FC in water, to just below the level of perlite, to rehydrate it? And let the excess drain out?
Please help - I'm starting to think I'm one of the unlucky ones who has lazy mycelium...

I'm guessing your problem might be FAE. I'd run a fan in the room where your FC is, but pointed away from the FC, so you just have some air movement in the room. A fan pointed directly at the FC would probably dry it out too much, but you could always try it yourself and find out. If you can fan more often than 3 times a day, maybe that would help as well. I'd mist every time before fanning, you want the RH to be in the 95-99% range. Water evaporating into the surrounding air is a pinning trigger, I've been told, so the more water you can introduce and evaporate the better.
Hope you get some results soon.

Init seems right. My friend just did some casings, and it took about nine days to pin. He finally noticed pinning after he let the casing become a little bit dryer. (do NOT let it dry out, but let the moisture drop below near-saturation for a day or two. He thinks it caused the mycelium to go OH SHIT!:D) He also fans directly on the casing with a small personal fan. Lots of transpiration is a pinning trigger. Just so you don't think i'm full of shit, here's his proof! I dunno, looks like a good pinset! Yeah, a fan in the FC would dry it out too much Hang in there and good luck! myk

Cheers guys, thanks for the words of encouragement!
Duggstar - I'll get some pictures up later today, I've actually noticed that 2 of the cakes are colonizing the verm layer, and the other 2 aren't.
When I get the pictures up you'll be able to see what I mean!

If your cakes havnt started pinning in 2 weeks, i would give them a dunk for 24 hours. Ive done that with a few cakes that were stubborn.
If you built your fruiting chamber like the tek, it should be much higher rh than that. But i wouldnt trust that digital hygrometer. They are crap.
Have you got your terrarium raised of the surface its sitting on so that air can get to the bottom holes? You do have holes on the bottom?> also are you holes 1/4 inch, they cannot be bigger.
Dont run a fan directly on your terrarium, it will dry out your terrerium fast.
You can give your terrarium a few minutes of direct sunlight a day, it really helps with pinset.

This probably isn't normal, but I was having pinning issues. I had to go out of town for a day, 28hrs, and forgot to set the timer. So, in the closet, a beautifull pinset developed with no light...perhaps I forced them into survival mode?

Would dunking again be ok? I dunked once already, dont want to drown the poor things!
Veda - I got holes on the bottom, all sides and lid - just like the tek, they're 6mm which is 0.24 inches! The FC is raised up too.
I'm starting to think the humidity's a problem, so I've started misting more over the past two days...
One more thing - the sides of my terrarium are translucent, not transparent - It still lets a good deal of light in but acts like a diffuser. My lid is transparent though, where most of the light comes in.
I put em in direct sun for about 5 mins yesterday, might try again today...
thanks for all the advice guys! I was starting to lose hope!

Yes dunking will be fine, after 2 weeks they will have dried out some.
Fresh air exchange is more important than humidity. And if your built your chamber right, which you have i wouldnt be worrying about RH.
The sides are fine.

Ok, was out for a day yesterday - came back today to see them. I've got 4 cakes, but here's the weird thing - 2 just look freshly dunked and rolled, but the other two have taken over the verm and are nearly totally coated in mycelium!
It was always a slightly noticeable difference, but now its really noticeable!
So my question is - I'm planning on dunking them again in the next couple of hours, but should I dunk all 4? Or just the 2 that aren't doing anything? Or the 2 that have eaten up all the verm?
Really really sorry I can't get pictures yet - this is a pseudo-stealth grow and I just can't get the opportunity to get a few snaps in.
Dunking later is going to be difficult!

i dont think lack of moisture in the cakes will be stopping them fruiting. if i were u id just sit tight and stop worrying about them, they will fruit when theyre ready. mycology is a good hobby but one that requires patience and restraint, too much inteference can be a hinderence.

Couldn't wait any longer - had to dunk em now. Hope its a good idea, but with a total of over 4 weeks since full colonization I think it was...
Fingers crossed!
