Un-inoculated Jar Storage?

Ok so i recently ordered some Spores from good ol' ralph! While i waited i wondered if i could go through my same sterile procedure as innoculating to contam proof my jars. I would take jars out of PC, put them straight in glove box, tighten lids, take off foil , pad top of the jar with alcohol soaked paper towel, then put a layer of micropore tape, then a coffe filter with a rubber band, and then store in my incubator till spores arive. Sorry for that retarted sentance. Would this be a waste of time or is it best to innoculte straight out of a cooled pc? This would save me alot of time but i rather be safe then get a contam! Thanks for your time guys!

I left my PCed jars with the tinfoil on them in a box in my closet for 6 days waiting for syrnges. 0% contamination rate.

it will get contaminated anyway if you leave it for long.
You should inoculate straight out the pc. or as fast as possible.

All 24 of mine are fine. I waited six days. They'll be fine. You'd think that contams fly black helicopters around some of these peoples houses...

just because it was ok one time does not mean it will be every time.
if you only did it once you cant technically say its 100% fool proof.
ive done it and it they went bad in about a week after being pc'd @ 15psi.

Some people live in different environments than others, and in those environments it might be more likely to have bacteria or mold contaminate their jars.
Also, some peoples houses are dirtier than others.

Maybe putting them in the fridge after PCing them would also help.
I'm having exactly the same issue at the moment.

Hmmm that sounds interesting. What do you guys think about taking them out of the pc, then placing them in a sterile gallon ziplock bag, Then place in fridge?

If they went bad after they have been PC'd, meaning they got contaminated, then clearly they have not been PC'd properly or else there wouldn't have been anything in there to make them go bad. That means that if you had inoculated them, you'd have most likely had a contam outbreak at one point anyways. When I pour my petris, I always store them for a week. If nothing germinated in them by then they are clean and good to use.

Not really, since if they ARE contaminated, you have to start again, and if they ARENT contammed, you are a week further back than you would be.

I think il stick em in sum gal ziploc bags and let them sit in my incubator. Ralph takes no time to get you spores so they wont sit any longer than a week!

Sounds fine, but since even RR reckons jars WILL contam over time, why not be that extra little bit careful and chuck them in the fridge?
It would definitely slow down any bacteria/mold spores, and give your shrooms a slight edge they might lose if the jars are left out.

Actually I might have expressed myself a bit unclear. I only do that with petris. Jars I DO use right away if possible, which my schedule with being employed full time and having small kids and a wife who all want attention isn't always possible. If you don't open your jars and store them in a cool and dark place, it's OK to keep them for a couple of days before you inoculate. Given that they were PC'd correctly, of course.
