hey ive been looking to get a little humidifier to throw into my FC because ive been having trouble with rh.
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=176196-68376-H1000L&lpage=none
would that work? i noticed it doesnt have any different settings, would it automatically put my fc at 100%? thanks,

forget about using humidifiers in a terrarium, which usually results in either flooding your terrarium or not maintaining a stable enough rh.
leave humidifiers for greenhouses and marthats.
How are you measuring rh? Calibrated anologue meter? What kind of fruiting chamber are you using?

i posted last week about no pins on my casings and cakes. there's still nothing. its been over 2 weeks now. i am using a calibrated analog hygrometer but somethings not right. i figured it could have been because i only had about 2 inches of perlite...well i swapped it out with a good 4-5inches of fresh perlite a couple days ago and theres still been no progress any my humidity is still low. I have a lot of holes in all 6 sides too i dontknow what the fuck is up. Im saying fuck it and im looking for any way alternative way to get my mushies to fruit, be that buy a humidifier or use a different fruiting chamber...i dontknow.

that cant be right, if you built the FC as per the tek (in my signiture) it should maintain atleast 90% if not mid to upper 90's. 1/4 inch holes - very important not bigger which will hurt rh
you didnt calibrate your meter with salt did you ??
Raise your fruiting chamber a few inches so air can get to the bottom.

then that could be your problem . take a 1/2 inch hole for example wich has 4 times the surface area of a 1/4 inch hole.

Tape half of the holes up... And is the lid loose? Put tin foil along the lid and walls to seal it up nicely... I had rh problems aswell and this boosted my rh from 70 to 100...
And when you say perlite, you mean wet perlite right?

yeah drained pretty well. i wasnt sure EXACTLY how much to drain the perlite. i had it in the collander and let it drain until there werent really any drops coming from it unless you shook it hard.

thats exactly how to drain your perlite. You have holes in the bottom so if there is still a little excess it will drain out anyway.

well it seems like ive been following all of the right steps. i looked at the holes in RR's video and his drill bit looks just like mine if not bigger. my holes look pretty normal size compared to everyone elses haha. but im considering going to get an air pump and run it into my FC into a cup of water and keep that running

anybody like to comment on how you think that would work out? with the air pump routed to the cup of water?

If you built your shotgun terrarium per the tek, then your humidity is right. I'm hoping you have it off the floor on a table or something, and elevated on blocks so air can enter from the bottom? What method did you use to calibrate your hygrometer?
It should also be noted that the increased fresh air exchange in a shotgun which is the number ONE pinning trigger will dry out your cakes, regardless of whether you have 99% humidity or not. You MUST mist a few times daily if you want stellar results. RR

yes i followed your video for making the shotgun terrarium and i have it elevated off of the floor now witha good 4 inches of perlite. i used the salt method for calibration but my hygrometer could be off. nevertheless its been almost 2 weeks stuck in the same place. it looks like their trying real hard to pin but its just not happenin'.
so today i went to the pet store and purchased an air pump with an aqua stone, and now i have a few questions about that.
as of right now i have it routed into my shotgun fc and into a small cup of bubbling water. is this effective? i havnt tryed the aquastone under the perlite yet because the water seems to be more effective. and if i were to use this method, would it be better for me to just use a new tubbermaid container with no holes in it? thanks for the help.
