jar not colonizing - safe to reuse?
    #10092268 - 04/02/09 04:20 AM (15 years, 18 days ago)

Hey there. so i PC'ed 4 half-pint jars and injected 4cc of LC i made into each one. this was about a week ago. i didnt really see any myc clouds in my LC but white floating stuff (probably the tissue sample i put in there to clone). its been a week, with absolutely no sign of growth. neither myc nor any contams.
My question is, is it safe to just re-inoculate them from a healthy LC without starting over?

If your LC didnt really grow, there may be a problem with your LC. When you took your sample from a mature fruit or a young one. I have heard recently that you should ideally take a clone from a young fruit like a pin for example, as the mycelium is still rapidly growing.

Once a fruit is mature, cell division drops of rapidly. Remember that after the pin stage a fruit body grows in size by rapidly inflating cells with water and doesnt generaly grow any more cells.

Its generaly not a good idea to re-inoculate. You could try it without expecting anything and start up some more jars as a backup.

sounds like a cool experiment to me. i'll PC some jars tonight and innoc tomorrow and see how it goes.

And yah, it was a pretty mature fruit. the largest and well grown i had (without getting to that dying phase look), stuck a syringe up its stem from the base for the tissue

explains why smaller mushrooms are more potent than bigger ones
although they have the same psilocybin the smaller ones have it more concentrated

Timing: maximum production of psilocybin occurs on the seventh day after germination, while maximum production of the mycelium is reached by the ninth day
