Interesting classes but sociology, anthropology, and psychology are all pretty worthless majors.

Why is psychology a useless major? I don't plan to do clinical psychology and even if it was useless its pretty much the only "calling" I've ever felt. I'd rather make shitty money and enjoy what I'm doing then be a slave to money

I think the problem with psych. is figuring out WHAT you'll be doing with it.

I'm also only in my 2nd year (Well 3rd, someone was a bad student). I just want to get out of this community college with an Associates and a good GPA, I already have close to a 4.0 and plan on going to another cheap school after. I figure that I have time to figure out my end career path, I need to focus now and getting the actual schooling done.

Hah, bizarre twist on an old pic.
I can't really think of any jobs that use those subjects, but surely there are some.
Good luck with that! I agree with you.. better to make less money doing something you enjoy. Fuck having tons of money.. enough to get by and some real happiness can't be beat.

Yea, psychology is not a useless major. The job market is a little saturated by psychology degrees because there are lots of people out there that choose it for no good reason. But that doesn't mean its useless, with the BS in it you can do lots of social work like jobs and help people who are in desperate need.
My schedule next semester is one Im interested in too, but it will also likely be the hardest semester of my life. Cant wait to start, plow through it and get it behind me.

Not really, its also about finding yourself and getting an education I think You dont need to go to school 100% for career purposes, and anyone who does I feel sorry for them. I hate hearing people say they are "business majors". I cant help but wonder if thats really what they wanna do, or just want something that will make decent money. Sad really, enjoy your life

There's more work for pyschologists then you think. You can become more then just psychologist, think profiler for the cops (maybe less popular here ^^), recruit screener for a company, etc

My point exactly. I love information and knowledge. The more I get from the outside world the more I can use within my own mind. I find psychology interesting because I've always been analyzing the world and the people in it. I find humans to be fascinating, even if I dislike humanity as a whole.
And the subjects are not all majors, but instead of electives that I am not interested in I decided to take classes that would challenge me and let me think a bit.

the was meant to indicate i was being sarcastic.
i fucking hate the mentality that university is just training for a career. i completely understand that some people just don't find the social sciences, literature, art, philosophy, etc interesting, it's not for everybody. but that's why there are technical colleges and trade schools. and i completely understand that somebody interested in, e.g., anthropology might not make a career out of it. but that's why there are technical colleges and trade schools.
if everybody took a few years to study humanity, the world around us, meaning, art, etc and then focused on what they want to do "for a living" i think we'd all be a lot better off.

I understand your point of view completely, but I think that in the end the primary goal of an education should be to help you secure a better job. You can always learn.
