Curling Leaves
    #10064621 - 03/29/09 07:23 AM (15 years, 22 days ago)

Alright I didn't want to sign up at the growery, would rather inquire here. Right now I have 3 feminized Purple #1's I started going about 3 weeks ago. I'm having a problem with the leaves curling upwards.  I'll go through a list here of the environmental factors.
1. Soil, its a mix of peat seed starter soil, perlite, mycorrhizae seed inoculant and worm castings.
2. They were started under an eco-light basically a 150watt compact flourescent light and moved 3 days ago into a grow tent with a 600w hps.
The curling started under the cfl and I have them about 3 feet away from the hps if not a little more so I am fairly sure its not heat related.
3. water comes from the tap. Not chlorinated.
4. Fertilizer is bubbled worm casting tea with seaweed meal and biobizz grow.
5. PH ??? only factor really unaccounted for, but these girls are getting transplanted in some canna soil specifically taylored for herb.
I know what perfectly healthy plants look like and I'm not quite there I think.  Thanks in advance for any input!

That's heat stress.

Back the lamp off a bit. Are you using a circulation fan ?.
They will toughen up as they get older..

You might be right as when I had them under the cfl I ran a space heater in ther on low to keep them warm maybe I over did it.. I used to have big problems growing indoors in northern Cali but know I'm in a climate now where I dont think I'm gonna have to get an air condition specifically for them. Thanks for the response made me feel a bit better!

It's common with younger plants,, it's hard to resist the temptation to keep the lamp low to cut down on stretch..
I'd back it off a bit for now until they toughen up..
A bit of heat stress isn't much of a problem, it can come and go over a space of days,, no harm done at all at this point,,, .

Just thought I would update this, the feminized seeds I got from a certain Dutch company that claims to have allot of Passion are a load of shit(at least thier fem seeds are)  In the pack 1 was crushed and then 1 didn't germ. 3 made it to flower and half the plant was female and on top started growing balls everywhere not your average hermie but a straight bannana hamock up there WTF.... only stress these plants had was a little heat stress when they first went to the flower room, no problems with light leaks, no over feeding. So I did a little bit more researching and apparently these guys have this issue with their fem seeds going hermie.  Guess I should have researched a little better and gone with another company theirs 45Euro flushed.

Yeah as long as they have enough water its not bad for them, remember if you want large healthy plants you have to have large healthy root systems that get plenty of water.

Happy Harvest!

No they recovered fine had them swimming in a pot actually split a big bag of soil between 2 pots, just shitty seed don't think this company quite has the fem seed thing down.  My next go is blueberry from the same seed company just not femmed, so far they look alright couple retards in the bunch but I don't think blueberry is the most stable strain to start with.
