Storing Cacti Cuts

I am storing cacti cuts for about six weeks before I ingest them. My question is: Are they supposed to be stored upright? Because I notice that they tend to bruise easily if laid flat... thanks in advance...

You can just let them lie down on their sides on a desk somewhere where air circulates a bit (to prevent rot).
