18 gallon monotub question

How susseccful do you guys think a 18 gallon monotub would be if I only used 2 quarts (wbs)of CAMBODIAN in it.  I have 2 extra and tomorrow they will be ready to go.  I had 3, but I used one to G2G for 10 more jars.  could I get away with it if I made the substrate a bit thinner.  I am using cow poop/verm/coir if that makes any difference.

I'd use a smaller tub, probably a 50 quart.  Then again I like to have a high spawn ratio -- more nutrients, faster colonization, less chance of contamination.

you could give it a shot, but i use 5 qts. in my 18 gal. tubs

I do 18 gallon monotubs and I like to spawn with at least 4 qts. of WBS .... between 4 and 6 qts. seems good to me.

Like you mentioned, do a thinner substrate .... so the bulk will fully colonize before any contamination starts. You'll have a large fruiting area ...

Well I couldnt resist.... I peeked into the tubs today ( I have 3... one b+ with 4 quarts, one cambo with 2, and one gt with 5.)  To my surprise, they were all poking through in about 10-15 places. (I put them in the tubs on saturday afternoon)  I'm pleased, to say the least.  It seems that the cambos are really fast colonizers.  I had to wring out the cow poop by hand (freaking rain) and I had a bit too much moisture in the bucket when I pasturized it.  I think another 4 days and I'll be taking the blanket off of the tubs and trying to fruit those bad boys.

my first mono i used 3 brf cakes for spawn.. it worked fine it just took forever to colonize.
