Hey,

I am sure that it is obviously too early for pan subbs in Central New York, but I keep driving past mounds of old hay and field of horses and it's making me crazy!  Can anyone from this area (like 45 minutes from Syracuse) give me an idea of when the subbs start popping?  Probably not until like July right?

Best bet would be to go and buy a field guide. They don't cost too much for a decent one and it gives you more info on tons of more mushrooms.

June and July will probably be the best months.  Before it gets too hot out, but after the cold.  They're a late spring, early summer mushroom.  And of course, good moisture is key too.

I'll add, they can be found in irrigated lawns throughout the summer.

it's mostly about conditions.

I've seen them as early as late may.
but sometimes they don't start poppin til late june.
