For the Pitchfork Weilding Witch hnters of AIG Employees
    #10037783 - 03/25/09 09:52 AM (15 years, 7 days ago)

This was in today's NY Times on the Op Ed page.  It was what I figured but didn't have evidence of:
Quote:

DEAR Mr. Liddy,

It is with deep regret that I submit my notice of resignation from A.I.G. Financial Products. I hope you take the time to read this entire letter. Before describing the details of my decision, I want to offer some context:

I am proud of everything I have done for the commodity and equity divisions of A.I.G.-F.P. I was in no way involved in — or responsible for — the credit default swap transactions that have hamstrung A.I.G. Nor were more than a handful of the 400 current employees of A.I.G.-F.P. Most of those responsible have left the company and have conspicuously escaped the public outrage.

After 12 months of hard work dismantling the company — during which A.I.G. reassured us many times we would be rewarded in March 2009 — we in the financial products unit have been betrayed by A.I.G. and are being unfairly persecuted by elected officials. In response to this, I will now leave the company and donate my entire post-tax retention payment to those suffering from the global economic downturn. My intent is to keep none of the money myself.

I take this action after 11 years of dedicated, honorable service to A.I.G. I can no longer effectively perform my duties in this dysfunctional environment, nor am I being paid to do so. Like you, I was asked to work for an annual salary of $1, and I agreed out of a sense of duty to the company and to the public officials who have come to its aid. Having now been let down by both, I can no longer justify spending 10, 12, 14 hours a day away from my family for the benefit of those who have let me down.

Asshole grandstanding politicians feeding the maw of moronic public outrage at the expense of largely innocent people.  THAT is a violation of public trust and an example of government persecution.  And most of the populist morons lapped it up like the idiots they are.

Another example of a grand turd is Andrew the cunt son of a cunt Cuomo.  His job is Attorney General of the State of New York.  He has put both of his disgusting feet in this witch hunt to the detriment of the state whose payroll he's on.  If these fucking employees don't get paid NY State loses MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of tax revenue.  Badly needed tax revenue.  This fucking cockholster is fucking over the state that pays his salary, injecting himself into a federal matter that he has no standing on and wrongly vilifying utterly innocent employees who were promised paychecks in their rightfully and lawfully accepted contracts.  He is the lowest of the low, so far, and is doing this because he sees that the current governor is a weak incompetent twat who he can pick off in the primary.  I've never campaigned for anyone before but I may well campaign for the corpse of Richard Nixon if we could get it to run against this turd.

largely innocent people.

:rofl2: I doubt that. I think you meant "largely ignorant people"

That is an excellent read, and there's more to it than you cut and pasted.  Everyone should click on the link and read the letter in its entirety.

The AIG bonus issue has been shockingly mishandled by the government from the beginning. Even Obama's teleprompter has come to realize this, and has directed Obama to dial back the rhetoric on it.

Did you read it?  AIG was not 100% about credit default swaps and the people involved in that are long gone.  Or are you a Ward Churchill type who thinks we're all little Eichmanns?  In which case you need to give back your money, too, in these perilous times.  If you had a bank account you're to blame.  Enabler.

Really?  Do you not do taxes too, or are they for other people?  What do you mean YOUR money, that you keep so close?  Is it only my money you want to give away?

When did I say I wanted to do anything with your money.

My original comment (kind of a joke) was about how the average guy gets "taken" because he's ignorant more than innocent.

I paid taxes when I worked. Now I don't make enough to pay taxes. I didn't make the taxes or agree to them or vote for them.

Get it out of you head that I want your money. Man you are paranoid.

So your telling me one of the top 5 percent of AIG workers should be getting $x,x00,000 because he worked hard the entire year, and wasn't even directly involved in the major factor that led the company/world to bankruptcy?

Jee Whiz,

The 2,000 auto workers in my home town who worked a 50 hour work week at a lower wage this year than last year, only to get fired for having nothing to do with the economic collapse are the people I would like to see write a paper in the NYT.  But, I guess they are too busy working the 3rd shift at Subway, trying to prevent their house from being foreclosed upon, to have time writing a pissy little letter bemoaning their losses.

No, I'm telling you he should get his fucking pay because that's what his fucking contract called for.  He got paid one dollar plus the rest if he fulfilled certain criteria.  Now the cunts want to fuck him because some other cunts fucked up?  That.  Isn't.  Right.

Dude, they got paid when they worked for the money they agreed to work for in their contracts.  And if you don't think the union autoworkers have had everything to do with their company going to hell you're ill-informed.  They don't get lifetime employment guarantees.  There is no tenure in their contract.  Or in that AIG guy's.  He had a contract to get paid X.  He worked all year with no other pay.  Now they are pilloried by mob morons for doing the right thing.  This guy could have gone to work somewhere else a year ago.  But he stayed.  And helped straighten the company out to a certain extent.  For that he gets demonized by FUCKING MORONS AND WHORES.

The losers are going to be one unhappy bunch when producers start to go John Galt on their ass.  When the mediocrats take over, you get a mediocre country.  One step closer to idiocracy.

I also highly doubt your description of the autoworkers working 50hour weeks for less money.  What company?  Without that I have to call bullshit.  The unions have given almost no concessions whatsoever.

Not a union fan myself. Unions tend toward corruption in my experience. Plus the Union Reps get the good contract. They make sure of it.

Agree with zappa and the essayist.  Its like something out of atlas shrugged.

And I never got why we are only focusing on these random people.  Should the other creditors not get paid?  Or do they get the benifit of bankruptcy proceedings (like the fucking law in effect when they undertook their deals called for) before being denied their paymetn?

Seems totally random to just focus on the bonus earners, and the level of rhetoric on this issue from almost all involved is so ridiculous as to make the socialist party's philosphy to be the most informed.

Really just seems like people railing against a vague notion they've decided to superimpose over the bonus earners.

Even on here you can't get those opposed to the bonuses to clearly explain what they want.  They defend confiscatory taxes and then say the company shouldn't pay the bonuses- refusing to even address under what logic they may refuse to pay their debts.  Then if you question them on that they say the company shouldn't have made the deal- of course this is utterly irrlevant to whether confiscatory taxes are appropriate.

The whole thing has devolved to an ignorant spectacle.  At least the socialist party's position is somewhat consistant.

Yes, they do.  But the autoworker contracts were good enough to kill the auto companies.  Another example of suicidal union contracts is the UFT.

It was just a few rogue employees raking in millions for the company with risky investments which went undetected until things went south.

Come on.

You cropped the quote.  Typical liar move.  Do you really think there are only 400 AIG employees?  The company has tens of thousands of employees, the fuck up was run almost entirely out of London and had been discovered over a year ago.  Don't you think the ones responsible have already been canned long ago?  Maybe the receptionists should be buttfucked, too.  For some more perspective from a non-moron:

Quote:

Apart from Andrew Ross Sorkin at the New York Times, it occurs to no one to say that a) the vast majority of the employees at AIG had as little as you or I to do with its quasi- criminal risk taking and catastrophic losses; b) that the most- valuable of those employees can easily find work at AIG’s competitors; and c) that if the government insists on punishing those valuable employees they will understandably leave, and leave behind a company even less viable than it is, and less likely to give the taxpayer back his money.

And also -- oh, yes -- that if the government can arbitrarily break contracts made by firms in which it has taken a stake no one in his right mind will ever again make a contract with one of those firms. And so all of the banks in which the government has investment will be damaged.

But you keep that pitchfork good and sharp.  Slinging your usual bullshit should do the trick nicely.

Threats to AIG: "We Will Get Your Children"
Documents reveal the level of threats against AIG employees

By  ANDREW PERGAM

The anger in the threats against AIG executives is palpable.

"Get the bonus, we will get your children," someone identified only as "Jacob the Killer" hauntingly writes in an e-mail.

His is one of dozens of threats against AIG and its employees that were obtained from Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal's office under a Freedom of Information Act request by NBC Connecticut.

Surprisingly, some of those making the threats left their e-mail addresses and phone numbers - making the job of law enforcement officers easier.

Here are some of the highlights (or rather, low-lights).  We've cleaned up some of the nasty language, but you can use your imagination:
-- All you motherf***ers should be shot.  Thanks for f***ing up our economy then taking our money.

-- Dear Sir: Ya'll should have the balls and come clean and give back the bonuses. I know you would never do this so the gov't ought to take you out back and shoot everyone of you crooked sonofb****es...I would be very careful when I went out side. This is just a warning. If I were ya'll I would be real afraid. Thanks, Bill.

-- I don't hope that bad things happen to the recipients of those bonuses. I really hope that bad things happen to the children and grandchildren of them!  Whatever hurts them the most!!

-- You f***ing suck. Paying bonuses to the d*****s that made bad bets losing your company billions of dollars.  I want to f***ing puke.  Publish the list of those yankee scumbags so some good old southern boys can take care of them.

-- If the bonuses don't stop, it will be very likely that every CEO @ AIG has a bulls-eye on their backs.

-- We will hunt you down. Every last penny. We will hunt your children and we will hunt your conscience. We will do whatever we can to get those people getting the bonuses.  Give back the money or kill yourselves.

-- All the executives and their families should be executed with piano wire around their necks --- my greatest hope.

-- You mother-f***ing, c***s***ing, d***l****ers need to be taken out one by one and shot in the head. There's a special place in hell for you pond scum. Watch your backs because someone will come to get you, you can be sure.

-- The Revolution is coming. The family members of your executives are not safe. Your blood will run through the streets in the coming months.
Among the documents is an e-mail from an unknown individual, who may be or may have been an employee:  "Just arrived home to several threats on the answering machine.  'Give your money back or else,' terrible things going to happen, etc.  Both private caller numbers."
The company presumably provided the threats to support their claim that testifying before a legislative committee Thursday would put their employees at physical risk.

AIG CEO Edward Liddy expressed fear during congressional hearings in Washtington D.C. last week that releasing the names of the executives who scored bonuses would put them at risk of violence from an enraged public.

So far, the only response from citizens angered by the bonus fiasco has come in the form of a small and peaceful protest Saturday in Connecticut at some of the lavish homes of AIG employees. Some executives in Connecticut have hired security firms to guard their homes, the Associated Press reported.

An agreement was reached Wednesday to have Stephen Blake, AIG's head of human resources, testify about the structure of the bonus awards.
