newb dunking question

my friend's robot has a myco bag that is 99.9% colonized. he plans to put this in a hyda-pod once it is done.  should he dunk and/or cold shock it first?  :confused:

yeah, dont dunk it, you may introduce contams.

if its a cubbie, no cold shock is required - however it helps a lot of times. put it in a bag and seal it well - your fridge is the paradise of antagonistic microorganisms!!! you dont want your mycelium contaminated before even you see any shrooms!!! :smile:

thanx for the help yall! my friend's robot has decided to just birth the cake into the pod and see what happens. he's hopinig to birth either today or tomorrow...

The idea of dunking is to make it last a little longer after you see the last mushrooms. When you pull a half oz of mushrooms from your cakes, it really takes the moisture out. However, I have never tried this.

I have, I've dunked it and cold shocked my cake, and then I pulled the cake out of the bag and put it in a terrarium. You can see pictures here.
