Certainly fully colonized substrate is resistant.
But, healthy humans are resistant to diseases.
Considering the state of many fridges, wouldn't this be kind of like a person trying to stay healthy in a Small Pox tent?
It may be cold in there but I've seen some whacky and nasty stuff in fridges over the years moving around, renting places that came with one, having roommates, etc.
And, not only do many fridges provide long-term food sources for things, they are often pretty moist too so there isĀ both food and moisture. It is also not terribly uncommon for fridges to sit without electricity occasionally for a period of time creating the situation for it to be severely contaminated with spores/bacteria/molds that otherwise might not live in one.
Maybe this is never an issue but just what I think about fridges.
