Ok, microwaves can only sterilize through heat.

How do pressure cookers sterilize?

I disagree this method works but i do it different  with zero contaminants
i place one half pint jar in the center of the microwave with a piece of saran  wrap(atached but not covering till microwaving is done)) making sure it dose not touch the verm(or it will melt) andnuke for 3 minutes ..after done  i take it out to cool....the only problem with this is when i inoculate it sucks in air..but with the dry verm on the top.. non have contaminated
im looking into using cardboard disks moistened with peroxide as covers instead of saran wrap...havent got if all figured out yet

why the microwave works...because any living thing in the microwave is heated from the inside out... mold and bacteria explode..the microwave  heats any moist objects.. though mold has very little moisture they still pop like eggs in the microwave...anything thats not killed by microwaves is surly killed by heat so you win 2 ways
as for cold spots ...not going to happen with just one jar..they heat and they heat hot..i almost recomend 2 minutes per half pint

Note: This doesn't work!  You may get lucky because their are very few contams in BRF and verm, and most of them are easily sterilized by boiling temps.  If you've ever cooked food in a microwave you'll know that hot and cold spots develop.  Microwaves have no sterilizing effect on their own, they can only sterilize by heat.
