I highly suggest you don't try this tek. It has a lot of bad technique. Furthermore, none of the people who commented below me have any pics of a sucessful grow(and only one has more than 50 posts) This tek is good for information only(and is a good example of how NOT to do it)

Thank you mushroom wizard for the knowledge you share I have just finshed mycelium growth first time 2 out of five jars quart sized .They took over a month to nock up fully and I am very happy with the results the started fruiting in the jars and I took them out and put in sweater box i am hoping they fruit bunches and bunches.

I am new to cultivating. But I found this guide to be one of the easiest for me to understand. My wife and I even built a kit and began looking at the instructions for cultivation but still found this to be the easiest as far as setup and casing.

This guide informed me little after reading many other methods, but it relaxed me quite a bit. Breath.

I would suggest using the system of sterilizing your jars and such from the you tube videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHJQrsZFQdE), just to make sure your being extra sterile. Plus it uses the injection method which is faster and just as easy. then using the potting soil method this way suggest after your jars colonize

is the potting soil supposed to give the shrooms extra nutrition or is it just for moistening and hydrating

would you recomend dunking the cakes before crumbling

Hi,

this method seemed like the easiest one that i could find therefore, I am giving it a shot. the cakes are already fully colonized without any contamination  :-). I only have one question. I could not find the correct size plastic containers (13 x 7.5) x 4 boxes. so instead, i bought one large container that is 25 x 14 inches. do you think this will work, or would it give me a problem?

I wouldn't  trust this method.

Scraping directly into the jars is a terribly slow way to inoculate, and less sterile than spore suspension injection a la PF.
