As I understand it, this is basically the way it is done with other mushrooms grown outdoors (based on videos I've watched). If the location favors the conditions needed for your strain, I don't see why it shouldn't work. Did you go back and find anything good?

About two years ago, before I knew any better, I sprayed  some piles of alder chips in a local park with a Ps cy spore solution, thinking that it just might produce results. I asked about that here and was told in no uncertain terms that simply spraying wood chips was not a workable method. Ok, but I went back to that spot the next October and found a pretty good flush of Cy, despite the advice.  If I'd been thinking I'd have liberated some of the mycelium and started a science project at home, but that will have to wait until next fall.

If I do get another flush there, can I start an outside bed of chips, damp cardboard and mycelium and have a reasonable expectation of success???

Thanks in advance for your advice.
