Why not use alcohol and just extract it and put that in something else? But either way, why not just fruit?

I have personally tried this method with unexpectedly great sucess! I took one half-pint brown-rice cake that was fully colonized with P. Cubenis var. "Mazateca". This is what I did: I cut up  the brand-new cake with sharp scissors into small pieces straight into a blender. Since it was not allowed to fruit, it had all the lovely mycelium intact (Mucho Alkaloids!). So I poured some fresh cranberry juice into the blender, put a couple tablespoons of Tang juice powder and blended the whole mix into a liquid smoothie. After that, I let it sit in the blender for 1 hour to extract the alkaloids.

After the hour, I poured the nasty mix into a deep bowl with a clean, white t-shirt over it. The t-shirt is going to be used to filter out the vermiculite and brown-rice. After pouring it into thee bowl, I took the t-shirt and squeezed it to the limit. I would NOT recommend using paper towels, they will rip and not work as well as a clean t-shirt. Once the juice is strung-out of the t-shirt I just threw away the shirt with the ball of nasty with it, 'cause it pretty much ruins the shirt.

Once the juice is gathered, it appeared orange-red with a milky-white coat. Then I funnelled it into a bottle and put it in the refridge. Its pretty bad-looking, and it smells not so good but it is potent (explained later in this story)!

The day I drank this slurry was right before a airplane flight from Eugene. I called the trip "The Pre-Flight Departure". I mentally travelled to a new demension. I started drinking it on the car ride to the airport and I could start feeling it right after the first sip. Man, it taste horrible! I had to use apple juice as a chaser. But it was not impossible to drink. Compared to drinking San Pedro tea, drinking extracted mycelium is not so bad. It tastes kinda tasteless with a very bad after-taste.

30 minutes after drinking half of the juice, I was getting nervous as it kept getting more and more intense. What was strange was that it did not feel like a mushroom trip; it felt like a whole new substance. There was some similaries to reg. mushrooms, but the "atmosphere" of the trip was visually and mentally different. Also, the come-up is quite fast than any Cubenis mushroom trip I've had. I think this has do with the mycelium containing difference ratios of alkaloids than fruited mushrooms, but I don't know the details on the ratio differences.

So, by the time I got to the airport, I was tripping. Not major opened-eye visuals but enough visual distortion, altered state-of-mind, bursts of giggling, and a constant simile on my face to know it was NOT placebo. It was intense enough to be concerned about security asking me questions. Anyway, I had drank about 80% of the myco juice but descided it was powerful enough to throw away the rest in the trash.

The best part of the trip, which is when I was peaking, was watching the sunset thru a huge glass window. The sunrays shot thru a bunch of clouds and produced the most vivid, intense colors I've ever seen. Thank you myco medicine. What was werid was that after that, I came down really fast. Soon, I felt like I was back to baseline. I looked at my watch, the whole trip ended in about 4.5 hours. Usually normal mushroom trips last 6 hours for me. Again, I think its the fact its mycelium and not full-grown mushrooms.

Bottom-line: Totally worth trying once or maybe more. Mycelium produces a new psychedelic experience thats subjectively different than normal mushrooms. Only bad things are the gross taste and you can only get 1 good trip from a half-pint jar. Try my technique for brown-rice cakes. If it worked for me, it could work for you. If done right, of course.

This is freaking stupid.  Sorry, guy, but why get one dose out of 300g of spawn when it could make 30 doses?  PER FLUSH?!   Spawn run to fruit, no more than 3 weeks- average is two.  For LESS effort, in the SAME amount of time, you can aquire 30x more usable biomass.

Keep it simple.  Spawn to straw at .03 cents a pound.

Definitely not worth the time and effort. I'm not sure why this is up here without a "worthless" disclaimer.

I tried this with a whole grain jar I couldn't fit into my fruiting chamber for shits and giggles, and let me tell you: if you thought mushrooms were a pain to choke down, try this pint of foamy crap sometime. To each their own, I suppose. I had a very, very weak trip, the equivalent of maybe 1g dry weight. Compared to the 6g or more you could've fruited off that cake, rather disappointing.

I also tried this with an almost-spent PF cake (becuase I'm stubborn, and if I recall I was somewhat sloshed). Uh, yeah, don't. I guess that should be obvious to most people. You will get heavy stomach irritation and no trip whatsoever, so unless you get a kick out of throwing up bits of vermiculite (e.g. hardcore masochist) you should probably let this be one of those stupid things you never tried.

Trying to extract actives from myc. is a waste of time.  You will only get a tiny bit of myc from each jar and it will have very low potency.

You can grow invitro PF jars just as easily and actually end up with mushrooms, not this poor substitute.

Liquid cultures range from zero to about .5% psilocybin.  Actual mushrooms range from around .75% to 2.0%.

So you will only end up with a tiny bit of end product and it will be well less than a third as potent as actually growing mushrooms.  It's an incredible waste of time, materials, and energy.

Even growing PF jars in vitro would be many times more effective in terms of labor, materials, and end product.

We really need to delete bogus guides like this from the shroomery so that people aren't led astray.

I tried this tek, little avail. I did hit a level 1 trip, after taking a full jar. I got better results after leaving the juice marinate with the mycelium for 1 hour opposed to a full 24 hours. Which I got no effects. I really want to attempt this tek again though.
