When I read "Best possible Mushroom Tea" I was kind of expecting more than "powder mushrooms, add to water, strain and drink."  I mean I guess this was, what 12 years ago now?  I suppose it could've been pretty innovative at the time.  Steeping the ground mushrooms in lemon juice before adding the combined juice and mushrooms to the water kicks it up a notch though, and I consider that pretty much a non-optional step at this point when I do tea.  Sometimes I then freeze that into potent ice cubes and add those to whatever drink doesn't suffer from a little citrusy dilution.  I'd really advise anybody browsing this part of the site to go over to the forums instead though.  A lot of creative ideas came into being the last 10 years or so that aren't reflected here.

My new favorite way is to just chop fresh cubes up pretty fine, or ground dry. Then just basically make a mimosa with Verdi and Orange Juice. Verdi is just a cheap sparkling moscato wine that is usually too sweet for me, but mixed with the OJ it's got a nice crisp clean taste. Sometimes I'll throw a couple ice cubes in, for me it has to be nice and cold.  Any cheap champagne would work though I would think. If I am going to be outside for awhile, I'll just mix it all up in a nice water bottle and sip.

I want to make some tea for my next trip, though I've never had a good tea trip. Mind you the tea was made "wrong" and rash, maybe. I mean it was just grinding or cutting the shrooms and putting them in a boiling pot with some tea. Didn't really work that well for me. Well once it did, but very mildly, and never a full trip though the amount of shrooms used was very little. Anyways, I want to try a tea again since my boyfriend hates eating them, and I'm not the biggest fan of it either. In terms of dosing, how much should I use? We're both usually good with 4 grams each. Currently I have 4.5 for each (from 15g with the last trip using 3 each). Should I put all the shrooms (9g) in the tea? I would like to make the trip last longer, and was thinking of dosing. Is that necessary or possible? I know I should dose before the peak, because doing it any later will just be a waste (I've done it and am aware of this sadness). I get really vivid trips usually (though I have a pretty good grasp on things and never really go dark side), and my boyfriend not so much. Any tips?

This was my 4th time trippin and my 1st boiling. I usually do 2 grams and be at about a stage 3 but this time boiling them I did 3 grams and it was all shake and stems, and was at a stage 4, Damn near a 5. It also kicked in a lot quicker, it usually takes around 30 min and this time it was 15 at the most. It was 530 when I drank them (which was the shroom water, squeezed limes, sugar, honey, and some ice cubes) and I was tripping balls till about 11 or 12 midnight. By far my favorite method of consumption yet, and I've had them on pizza, and chocolate. I'm up here in Michigan

if you never have before, i highly recommend making kool aid. (the red kind in particular)

just boil them up like u would with tea, after straining, throw in some kool aid and however much sugar u like. throw in some ice cubes as well, and then put it in the fridge or freezer till its cold, and enjoy! [=

Sounds amazing. Really looking forward to using this recipe.

Tried the tea once, was instantly hooked. Made me kinda sad about all those times I struggled with the nasty fresh ones. Definately the way to go. Its the only thing I do nowadays.

I boil some water and let it sit in the boiler for a couple of minutes.

Drop the scrunched (dry) mushroom bits in a flask and add about one cup of water.

Let it sit for 10 minutes whilst shaking it a couple of times.

Strain it through a coffeefilter. You know, the oldskool triangular ones.

Usually just add some honey and its good to go. Once let it cool completely and added some strawberry syrup so I could take a bottle with me.

Worked fine as well.

And who cares about some potency loss? If you grow the things yourself you have probably more than enough material to work with, I know I do!

Ginger for nausea is a lifesaver,  I have crystalized ginger thats like candy while i trip and its perfect for the comeup when i generally experience nausea (if any)

Lol I don't know anyone whos tried tea and said it doesn't work. Not sure where the rumor of their being a rumor got started xD

Add Chamomile if you have anxiety during the comeup
Add Ginger if you have nausea ;)

putting the shroom powder in a tea bag works well too, no need to sttrain then

For the past several years, every time I've tripped, I made tea, basically as described above. It, IMO, is the best way to ingest P.Cubes, very clean, intense trip. May not last as long, but the intensity certainly makes up for it. Drinking the tea is a much better experience then eating them raw, so for a first timer, i would definitely suggest this.

ya i dont understand how this would work if heat kills psilocybin

I tried out this method like this:

1 - Grinded up 2 grams (mix of caps and stems, mostly caps) of Psilocybe Cubensis mushrooms.

2 - Using an electric kettle, I heated up enough water to make for 3 tea's @ half a cup of water each.

3 - When the water heated up to its boiling point, I placed the grinded mushrooms into a cup and poured half a cup of the hot water onto them.

4 - I set a timer for 5 minutes, and stirred the tea every minute.

5 - After 5 minutes I strained the tea and placed the liquid into another cup.

6 - I repeated steps 3-5 two more times.

7 - After all is said and done combine the 3 half cups of water, and down the hatch they go! Make sure the liquid is cool enough.

All in all, on 1.8 grams of medium-potency mushrooms.. I had a very good trip. It was shorter than usual - only lasted about 5 hours in total before I was 95% normal again. It felt like I had taken around 3.5 grams of the same shrooms, to give you an idea of how much more intense the trip was. I have honestly found my new method of ingestion with these shrooms - heat really does not effect psilocybin like most think. I do not feel any potency was lost - if anything, it was gained!

Also, my Fiance tried roughly 2.3 grams (same mushrooms) and said she felt a very mind-blowing trip. At points it scared her, and she is a fairly avid tripper. I would say tea is the definitely the way to go, but make sure you watch your dose. 3 grams of good mushrooms in tea might mend your mind a little bit ;)

I wouldn't worry too much about the heat.  The goodies degrade over time with exposure to oxygen.  Heat can degrade them, too, but 200 degrees F isn't going to do much in 5 minutes.

Once removed from the heat, the water will quickly begin to cool.  If you want, wait a minute or two, then add your powder.  If you're putting Ice cubes in there, it will cool even faster.  Drink right away.

Degradation won't be noticeable unless you are boiling your mushrooms.

Sweet dreams!

There have been many debates about this, some say that it does and some say it doesnt, i know people who have made mushroom tea and apperently it works. It may reduce the potency. To be sure i would wake some flavoured tea and wait for the temp to drop below 30  C . Then add the powder

Doesn't heat kill psilocybin?
