Does it have to be distilled water? What about natural? Mineral? Tap? Or reverse osmosis?

How long will the culture remain viable in the fridge?

The measurements on this Tek are way off. It states to use 4% malt, but a tablespoon per cup is over 6%. Two teaspoons per cup is a little over 4%. There is a lot of debate as to the percentage of sweetener to use.  Some stick to the standard 4%, but there is a lot of successful experimentation using 1% or lower. Either way, no one is using over 4% and is not recommended.

I just have a quick question about "agitate the myc everyday.  Does this mean just to simply shake the jar everyday?  I just wanna make sure not to mess this up...

If you don't have a pressure cooker, just boil the jars (with a hand towel in the bottom of the pot, to keep the heat from getting too concentrated under the jars) for 1 hour, with a lid on the pot. It'll be sterile as hell...I never have a problem w/ contamination when I do it this way.

Somebody should mention air exchange and how to properly identify contams in LC. This leaves much to be answered.
Does the myc float or sink?
Under what conditions is it best to keep this incubated?
Why is there no mention of Karo or honey?
How long do we wait before seeing the first signs of growth, usually?
Adding h2o2 to the solution to keep contams out (once the spores germinate) should be mentioned.
Pics would make this complete.
