I read somewhere here that you should wait until the jars are at least 35 to 50 percent colonized before shaking.. I read that after I had done the same as you had and been shaking mine everyday.. :P it's now been about 6 days since I last shook them and I'm still discouraged that there is no obvious growth of any kind going on.. your post gives me hope that I havn't killed them and will continue to NOT shake them and keep learning patience.. :)

I'm a newb, I innoculated some WBS pint jars via syringe and shook them almost every day for a week (before reading this). Finally I gave up on them and left them alone because no growth was showing. Now exactly 14 days later and to my suprise I now have pure white mycelium just starting to show in two of the three jars.
Now I'm going to wait a few days before shaking to spread the growth -- I thought I had ruined this try by shaking too much before.
Also I had a problem with my space heater w / thermostat because the LED thermostat would just show random numbers when trying to set. I just let it run and I think it was getting too hot so I would un-plug it, then it would get too cold. Now that it started working right it's been at a steady 82 to 86 F for the last several days, which I'm sure has helped!
