But isn't this why we no longer advise a fixed amount of water per jar? Simple minds PF Tek now lists *exactly* how much verm per jar, *exactly* how much BRF per jar... and "water"... meaning add water until it is at field capacity. I find that if you bunch it up tight in one corner of the mixing bowl and just a slight few drops come out, THAT is how much water you need. Any more, let it run off. Then add your BRF and mix like a boy insane. :)

15% is not really a "considerable" difference.  Fine may hold more water, but coarse colonizes much faster due to the increased airspaces.  You also have a very low grade "coarse" vermiculite pictured.  It varies from as fine as the fine to 10x the size.  So it's not really even "coarse" verm, it's a bastard mix of unsorted verm pieces.
