So random question. Been doin this for about 3 yrs and never really changed up my game. Buuuuttt.... i decided that im going to dunk my monotubs. Not like shove them in water for hours. I want to spray the walls its pulling away from, mist the shit out of it and have like an 1/2 standing water on sides. But i figured since the mycelium pulled almost 1/2' -1in after first flush... BECAUSE THEY WERE MASSIVE AND A FUCK TON OF THEM. That they would need a lot of water to rehydrate them. So did a super heavy mist on walls so it trickled down to the bottom and sprayed the shit out of the top and im gonna leave the lids off for like 1-4hrs checking every hour to see if its still standing water and if so ima suck it out with a syringe.
This is 2nd flush
First flish yielded 5oz in each 64qt coir/verm mix
Rye spawn seed
Soooo heres the question. Whats your thoughts on this?

The coco coir and vermiculite mixture that gets mixed up in the 5 gallon bucket... if you make too much of it, is it ok to keep it for future use or does it go bad after a certain amount of time?

Hey would this also work?
Instead of adding in the stuffing after mixing the sub and spawn together could you just add the stuffing before sealing it off and incubating the tub IF you incubated within a sealed garbage bag?
PLEASE IN BOX ME IF YOU HAVE AN ANSWER thanks

hey i like this but my question is why do it, u have 5 quarts of colonized spawn which took probly 2 weeks right at least, and then ur gunna wat another 2 weeks for it to colonize the tub,. why not just put hte spawn into a tray and let them fruit?

I can't imagine that this works so good because coir has absolutely no nutritions

I've read that gypsum and hydrated lime are highly beneficial for adjusting the levels of calcium sulfate and pH, so I picked some up recently. How much of each would be an appropriate amount for this recipe?

BUMP!
i know someone kinda like me that did this tek. colonized grain jars of WBS. temps weren't optimal so it took about a month for jars to get fully colonized.
one brick coir, 5 quart jars verm, 1 quart jar of worm poo. pasteurized (the spawn jars were sterilized and meticulous WBS listening to instructions).
for spawn floated the seed for about an hour, took out all sunflowers and drained. rinsed as well. added boiling water in a closed bucket and waited an hour. then proceeded to rinse again and PC'd for 90 min. did a lid tek with about a 3/8" hole double tyvek covering. included 4 self healing innoculation holes but they aren't really necessary for grains. all RTV sealant.
the WBS spawn tek was a mix of doc34's and str0be's
new to the community, but a long time reader. much love!

I had the same question as liquid beef, can I just crumble my BRF cakes to do this?

What about the temp for step 13, is the room it's in kept at 80 or does it not matter? I'm dealing with a cold climate. Is this tek drafted for something more temperate?

Do you need to use a grain spawn or could I convert some of my BRF cakes to bulk just by crumbling them up and following this TEK? Newbie who has 36 jars almost at full incubation trying to decide what to do with them besides just putting them in shotgun FC's... Thanks

Hello Shroomery,
Thanks Damion for this great tutorial, i'm still kind of confused as to the difference between a casing and a bulk substrate.

what kind of spawn do you use? would it be possible to crumble up fully colonized BRF pf tek cakes and use that as the spawn?
Thanks

If you wait until it is 100% colonized, wont that cause overlay and lead to less shroomies?

One brick of coir is roughly 650grams.. I would say anywhere between 650-750 grams is the size brick your looking for.

You can see he has a window cut into the lid in one of his pics for light.
The FAE is achieved by the polyfill stuffed in the holes. It acts as a filter and allows air to flow through the monotub.
The whole idea of a monotub is that you don't have to open it to fan or mist. The RH is maintained by the sub and the FAE is maintained by the polyfill holes.
Great TEK, this is what I've been doing and it works really well!

How do you introduce light in your setup? Do you use a clear lid?

With an 18 gallon tub it is about 3.5 inches deep. Also once colonized you take the tape off and put some polyfill in the holes. I then mist it maybe 2-4 times a day just depends.

how do you introduce FAE once you are ready to fruit? DO you just fan it a couple of times a day?? Really good TEK by the way.

That tub is an 18 gallon mono and the temps are room temps at all time between 66-76 degrees.

what temp do you leave it at while you let it colonize? What temp do you put it into when you move it to fruiting?
