I have used this tek and it worked great. I did not refrigerate the lc after it became thick and eventually started contaminating everything.

I love it all except the filter option, I'd suggest a filter on the lid over the suggested syringe and cotton balls due to it becoming a lot lamp on jar #2
ISO and the syringe are basically a lamp

My first attempt at LC tek and used this method but with canning cooker not a PC. I later got a PC and it shortened my time significantly. Both options worked well. Thank you for the images and detailed updates.
Hockeyplayer....The first time i did this TEK, I used standard canning jar granite-ware type canning pot.
I kept a low boil...not raging boiling..for 45 minutes with timer. I have an electric cooktop type stove, using the largest diameter burner i cranked until the water boiled until turned the heat back to a slow boil, kept it at ~ 4.5-5 on the burner dial setting. I watched and monitored the entire time. that is the biggest drawback with the non PC method IMO. Cannot turn on and walk away. Good luck. The self healing lids are an absolute MUST, makes it soooo much easier. Thank you!!

I ordered that silicone stuff. Does it really have the self-healing effect?

What if you don;t have a pressure cooker? How long should they boil on the stove and for how long (in a pot)?

Yes they are pint jars. As to how long they last, a couple of months in a cool dark place.. A year or two in the fridge once colonized.

Are those really pints or half-pints? I have a pint jar in front of me and those don't look like pints. Could make a BIG difference.

How long do the LC jars last?
Can they be stored for any length of time?
