Lost in my minds Forest
Myself and two of my friends (P and C) met at a house out by the forest around 5:30 on a Friday evening.
Myself and two of my friends (P and C) met at a house out by the forest around 5:30 on a Friday evening. It was a beautiful day out, blue sky and puffy white clouds. We sat down and smoked a bowl and proceeded to eat lots of mushrooms... I'm not entirely sure how much it was.
We started hiking up over the hills and through the trees; I had been here many times before so I led the way down the paths and through the ravines.
The trip was coming on gradually; after we had gone about a half mile, the forest thinned out and there was a huge field of waist high grass that ran up the side of a hill. By the time we had reached the top, the trip had come on full effect and we couldn't walk any further so we sat down in the weeds in a loose triangle about ten feet apart.
We were on the edge of a valley surrounded by trees; the sun was shining and the blue sky seemed to go on forever in all directions.
I noticed something moving out of the corner of my eye and looked down to see some kind of insect moving up a long piece of grass. Everything else seemed to fade away except this little creature; it was like a little astronaut exploring our world. I got down real close to it and it's head rotated around until it's huge eyes were looking right at me. I'm normally not a bug person but I felt a wierd kinship with it- it was almost like a little person in armor.
About this time a loud gunshot rang out at the edge of the field- it seemed to echo forever and I felt the sound wave sweep from one end of the valley to the other (I'm not sure it as a gunshot, but all three of us heard it.)
At this point the trip began going downhill; we had walked past my friends land and I began to get terrified that someone was going to come walking up to us and catch us.
My friend P started laughing uncontollably and fell over onto his side; drool was coming out of the side of his mouth and he had a look of pure joy on his face. But the fact that he was unresponsive to anything I said made me freak out even more.
I started to feel very anxious and worried; I kept checking my phone for calls and I felt like I was supposed to be somewhere else doing something. Then a friend of mine sent me a text message that said, "Thats what you get for trying to find the answer." That really freaked me out.
All of a sudden this loud animal howl rang out up the hill from us, at the edge of the forest. I thought I was just hearing things for a second but then I saw the look on C's face- he was totally pale and looked like he had seen a ghost. He asked me what that sound was and I was too afraid to answer him. It had to have been a bobcat or possibly a mountain lion.
We got P up off of the ground and started heading across the field back the way we had come. By this point everyone was terrified and it was beginning to get dark. It seemed to take a lifetime to walk across that field and it kept getting darker the closer we got to the woods.
Al of a sudden there was an explosion of wings and squaking all around us- we had accidently walked right through the middle of a huge group of turkeys nesting in the tall grass! Sound waves washed over us as the huge turkeys flew around us and out into the field. It was incredibly frightening in our state of mind.
We then entered the woods; it was pitch black and I could barely see the path ahead. C was terrified and P was having a hard time keeping up with us. I kept getting lost and taking wrong turns- the woods seemed very unfamiliar.
We finally made it back to the house. We were exhausted from all the walking and from being scared so many times. We went inside and tried to relax in the living room; I layed down on a persian style rug in the middle of the floor, C layed down on the couch, and P started roaming around the room messing with things. He found a big glass orb and said there was another world inside of it.
I felt like I was floating on the ocean on top of my persian rug and I kept playing with my cell phone. P thought I was acting like Tom Hanks off of Cast Away and my phone was like Wilson.
C called his girlfriend- he said it felt good to talk to someone that wasn't insane.
I can honestly say that I was insane for a period of about five hours that day.
