Liquid Skin

I had just eaten 60 grams of fresh Psilocybe cubensis from PF spores grown with the revised PF-TEK (1/2 cup vermiculite, 1/4 cup brown rice flour, 60 cc water using the Pearlite humidification technique); I make note of the conditions of cultivation because I believe that it is important to consider all factors that may affect the potency of our little fleshy friends.

I am not unfamiliar with 'shrooms, having grown and used them for almost two years, but find that each trip is unique in itself... this one was to prove quite different from all the others!

As I sat at the kitchen table taking notes (I always keep a journal of the experience as it happens, at least for as long as I can function rationaly) I began to realize that this one was really coming on strong! Within 15 minutes of ingesting the last shroom, I was having trouble concentrating on what I was trying to write! By 20 minutes, I had taken all of five minutes to write the words "Now the madness begins"!!! I decided that it was futile to continue with the journal and retired to the living-room and turned on the CD player and started the "Tubthumper" CD by Chumbawamba.

As I reclined on the sofa watching the TV with the volume turned off (I was watching an episode of Zena) I marveled at how the images on the screen morphed and how the colors heightened to the extent of looking as if they were computer generated! I could feel the sofa gently wraping itself around me, holding me in it's warm embrace.

About 50 minutes into the journey, my little black cat leapt gently onto my stomach and melted into my body; her eyes undulated and grew as large as bowling balls and would shrink as small as peas. Everything was in constant motion and the ceiling-fan slowly decended to the flowing oriental rug and then returned to it's original postion like a helicopter... I rember thinking to myself "Christ, I think I fucked up this time!" I needed to pee and decided that I had better get up and go to the potty before I was totaly gone...

As I entered the bathroom, I was greeted by the gaping maw of the toilet that had come alive and weaved from side to side. I reached down to unzip my fly only to realize that there was nothing to unzip... I had left my lower body from the waist down back on the sofa! Slowly my pelvic region and legs materialized and I groped in my pants and found my penis and urinated happily in the swirling waters of the toilet. As I pissed, I looked at myself in the mirror over the sink and saw an aura glowing all around my face... Cripes! I was really in a mess! I finished and returned to the living-room in a state of euphoria!

It was now 75 minutes into the realm of insanity and auditory as well as visual perception was being tremendously affected by the mushrooms. The music was coming as if being played at half speed and open-eyed halucinations were mounting at an exponential rate. As the TV melted across the rug like ice-cream, fractals of green, red and orange appeared everywhere in my visual field! The floor-lamp swayed and danced on it's pole leaving glorious trails of color in it's wake! A moth flutterd by and left a colorful contrail of neon yellow and green that persisted for what seemed to be minutes! The actual time span since I last looked at my watch had been less than a minute: still at 75 minutes! I thought to myself "God!!! I haven't even peaked yet!"

I decided that I wanted to be outside... the living-room had become a living thing of it's own right and I felt as if it might swallow me up if I were to linger. I cautiously made it to the door and found myself outside looking in through the front window at the warping room... It was alive like a cartoon from some twisted dream. I turned around to look at the evening sky and was greeted by a full moon that seemed as big as the steering-wheel of my car! It dipped and warped as the constantly swirling colors of my visuals made trailing patterns against the sky! I decided to lie on the grass under the big maple tree in the front yard and attempt to relax. It was now 90 minutes since I had eaten the last little 'shroom...

As I watched the swirling patterns of my halucination build, I became aware that I was no longer in contact with the grass... I was floating ten feet above the ground and everything was coming apart into little spheres. The tree that I had been lying under was now made up of spheres the size of golf balls and even I had become a figure consisting of marble sized spheres! Every time I tried to touch something, it and I would burst apart into millions of little balls and then return to our previous state! I recall not wanting it to stop, that I wanted it to go on forever! It was beautiful! I had become a being made up of individual molecules...

I cannot describe where I went next other than I was in a dimension of utterly beautiful colors and I flowed with them through eternal space and time... I felt the urge to become one with the universe, yet I wanted to come back...

The next thing that I can recall is sitting in the big, soft chair of my living-room watching the rug slowly flow across the undulating floor. I was back! I felt an itch from what was later to be diagnosed as a mosquito bite on my left arm. As I rubbed it, my hand came away wet! I looked at my skin and saw no liquid. Again I rubbed... This time I felt my hand definately become imersed in cool liquid and was facinated by the sensation! It was as if my skin was made of liquid and I could dip my fingers into it! On top of all this, I noticed that my body-parts were not where they should be... legs and arms were not attatched in the right places, and I looked very much like the Salvador Dali painting "Soft Construction with Boiled Beans". This was a bit un-nerving to say the least and I then began wanting the trip to be over.

I turned off the lights and settled into the warm embrace of the sofa and covered myself with a favorite blanket. As I slowly returned to the real world, I watched large dinosaur-like eyes looking back at me in the darkness of my mind and web-like structures of pale neon colors would build and then fade against the blackness. It was finally over.

Six months have passed and I have more growing in the terrariums... another journey into the beyond is close at hand...
