Crazy Amsterdam...
Well, there is no better place for a first mushroom trip than the beautiful city of Amsterdam.
Well, there is no better place for a first mushroom trip than the beautiful city of Amsterdam. What an amazing experience. Purchased 15 grams of Philosopher's Stones from Conscious Dreams smart shop. Ate about half of them straight and ate the other half about an hour later with an Indian Chicken curry dinner. Right as I was finishing the last bite, the effects began to hit me. Needless to say, I knew I was in for a hell of a strong trip.
There are way too many details to try to put into words, but my main memories involve being in the Greenhouse Effect Coffeeshop. I kept hearing voices singing songs and a loud repetition of the word "Hi." I was convinced I was back home at a local bar and was preparing to leave for Europe the next day. Furthermore, I decided that it was awfully late for having not eaten dinner. My travelling partner convinced me that we had in fact been in Europe for two weeks and had finished dinner about 45 minutes ago. I kept staring at the floor which seemed to move and vibrate like some scene out of fear and loathing in las vegas. I felt like I was encased in a glass box of mirrors and every other person in the room was merely a reflection of myself. So, it seemed like I could smash away the bad reflections to make myself a better person. My travelling partner (who was just stoned and not tripping) convinced me that this was not a good idea.
One of the most amazing things about the trip was my inability to make up my mind. I would have an overwhelming urge to do something and then right when I was about to do it, it would seem like the least appealing thing in the world. I forced my friend to wander all over town in search of what would please me. We ended up back at the hotel where I tried to listen to music. The first thing I put on was Aphex Twins "Selected Ambient Works Volume II." At one point during a "song" the noise of thunder and lightening occured. I was convinced that this was happening in our room and it would soon rain. Realizing that I might need a change of music, I put on Eminem's cd to the track about the mushroom trip. Bad idea, since the girl in the song overdoses and dies. I was convinced that I had shattered my own reality forever and would remain in mushroom space till I died. The night ended in Baba's coffeeshop where I attempted to bring myself back to earth by smoking huge quantities of hash. May not have worked, but it was fun.
So, in the end, it was an interesting experience. Definitely glad I tried it. Will be back in the 'Dam in about six months, and I plan to try another mushroom experience. Cheers.
