Because it is a profound experience, and feels "enlightening". I recommend not diving to conclusions that there's any 'truth' to the experience.

In 2014 with a friend I picked a quarter of a large bucket of shrooms(gold top), grown in cow dung. I ate at least 10-20, I was feeling okay, definitely tripping, then ate some fairly rotten/old ones that were blackish. I started to lose it, words in the music didn't make sense. I didn't really recognise my friend then I layed back into the car seat and passed out. I remember seeing God, (3x larger, no face, all white) sitting to the right of me and my friend. There was guitar music, we were sitting on like haybales. Then I "lost myself, any knowledge of myself" and was looking at a bright white light. After this I thought "I saw my soul".
