First DMT breakthrough... Holy fucking shit!
My DMT journey
My DMT Journey
So I have always been an experimenter... I won't touch things like meth or heroin, but I have tried cocaine once. I tried DXM a couple of times, not a fan. I love mushrooms and have used them countless times. I have experimented with LSA (both Hawaiian baby woodrose and morning glory) on several occasions. I dropped acid once. My favorites are cannabis and natural hallucinogens. DMT has always been on my bucket list.
A few weeks ago, I decided to make it happen. I was finally going to experience the spirit molecule. I ordered 100 grams of shredded Mimosa hostilis inner root bark. It cost me about $35 shipped. I received it in about 4 days. I decided to extract it 50 grams at a time, in case I screwed up royally the first time.
I measured 50 grams of Mimosa and 50 grams of sodium hydroxide. I grinded the Mimosa in my blender to a powder. I carefully added the lye to a Mason jar of distilled water, mixed it up, and added my Mimosa. I shook the brew, let it settle for a minute, and added 50ml of naptha. I rolled the jar and let the naptha separate. I did this 4 or 5 times, then carefully pulled off the naptha with an eyedropper and placed it in a glass bowl. I repeated the pull process 4 more times, for a total of 250ml of naptha. For the whole process, I kept my chems and mixture warm by keeping them in hot water. I then covered the bowl of naptha which, I hoped, had DMT dissolved in it, and placed it in the freezer. I was a little concerned because I read that the naptha should be yellowish at this point, but mine was clear.
The following morning, I eagerly opened the freezer, hoping to find clumps of DMT in the bottom of my bowl. I pulled it out and held it over my head to look at the bottom. Success! The entire bottom of the bowl was covered in little clumps of crystal growths. I took an empty Mason jar and used the band to clamp a coffee filter over the top, and carefully poured the naptha through it. There was a little bit of crystals in the filter, but most was still on the bottom of the bowl. I left the bowl on the counter to evaporate, and left the coffee filter on a black glass plate to dry. That evening, I scraped the DMT off the coffee filter onto the plate. Then I scraped the bottom of the bowl and added all that DMT to the plate. I weighed it and it was .6 grams... Over half a gram of pure, snow white crystals. No discoloration whatsoever. Pretty damn good. I was proud of myself. Now I had to pick a method of smoking it. I heard a lot about "the machine" so I built one. I quickly discovered that freebasing is quite difficult. How the hell do crackheads do it? Lol. I tried the machine several times, and only got threshold effects. Similar to an unpleasantly brutal mushroom come-up, but more "buzzy". I wasted about half my DMT this way and could not break through. With the other .3, I tried the sandwich method. Still could not blast off. Disappointed, I went to extract the other 50 grams of Mimosa and try again. I followed the same tek I did the first time. This time however, my naptha did come out yellow, and I ended up with MOSTLY pure DMT, but also lots of clumps of yellowish DMT that wouldn't fully dry... I understand this is fats from the plant material and is harmless.
This time, I elected to make enhanced leaf. I picked up a jar of dried mint from my local grocery store. I put some in a shot glass and sprinkled a fair amount of DMT over the mint. I got some water almost boiling, poured it into a ceramic bowl, and placed the shot glass in the water. When the DMT all melted to a liquid form, I stirred it with a plastic stir stick to evenly distribute the alkaloid over the plant. I then allowed it to cool and dry. The entire process took about 25 minutes. I placed the resulting smoke mixture in a small baggie, took a chillum and a lighter, and went for a hike to my favorite weed smoking/mushroom tripping spot; a nice, secluded area in the woods right next to a gently flowing stream. Very therapeutic and relaxing. I sat by the river, packing my chillum with the DMT-enhanced mint, and listening to the sound of the water. When the chillum was packed, I sat for another couple of minutes, mentally preparing myself for that which I knew I could never be prepared for. Then, I sparked my lighter, and lit the bowl in my chillum. This particular chillum is larger than the average, designed more for weed. Big enough for about 3 or 4 hits. I slowly drew in the first hit, filling my lungs with the cool-tasting mint smoke, which was accented by the now-familiar chemical taste of DMT. As I held the hit in, the sound of the water faded and disappeared, and was replaced by a rushing sound that seemed to exist more in my brain than in my ears. Every detail in the forest around me began to take on a kaleidoscope look. I felt very "buzzy." This was similar to the sensation I had in my previous attempts, but something about it seemed more intense, more significant, more... Looming. I exhaled and sparked up the bowl for a second hit. As I held the second hit in, the rushing sound intensified, as did the kaleidoscope effect. As I exhaled, my vision began to cloud. I sparked a third hit, barely able to work the lighter. I didn't want a third hit; I felt as though 2 was more than enough. But I knew from my research that when you knew you had enough, that meant you needed one more to break through. I sucked in my third hit, slightly nervous but mostly excited to see what I would be shown. With the last bit of my motor functions failing, and with my vision so cloudy I lost sight of the chillum in front of my face, I set down the lighter and chillum, layed down in the grass, and slipped away. My last sight before losing consciousness was the leaves in the tree above me, swaying in the breeze, spinning in crazy kaleidoscope patterns. Then I was gone. I can't describe what I saw, or what I experienced. But I had an overwhelming sensation of being... Home. Like this is where I was before I was a person, and I had finally returned home for a visit. I felt welcome in this strange place, comfortable in my own paradox of non-existence and existence at the time time. I felt as though I were everything and nothing. Then, after a while, I felt a tug... A gentle but firm force pulling me back. It was time to go. As I came to, laying in the grass, I became aware of the sound of the water. I opened my eyes. I was laying in grass, snuggled up all comfy as if I were in my bed. The grass was alive with color and seemed to be overlayed with kaleidoscope patterns, a small remnant of the world I had just returned from. I felt like I was waking up from a dream, the most beautiful, indescribable dream you could imagine. And, just like a dream, as my brain woke up more, the details of my experience began to fade, and they faded even more the more I tried to grasp them.
It took a few minutes before my motor functions came back enough that I could walk. When they did, I started walking home, still experiencing some pleasant aftereffects.
I wanted to go back... I still do, and I have plenty more DMT. But I'm not ready yet. My brain is still attempting to process what it has already been shown. When I am ready, I'll revisit. But for now, I have to say I am in awe.
