Abuses role as moderator to avoid taking a loss. In this epic thread he debates an honorable opponent only to conveniently shut off debate on a technicality after having his ass handed to him. Note his typical gradual lowering of the tone of the debate inappropriately using scorn and ridicule when his opponent was only arguing the facts in a respectful manner. Sets poor example for others.

He will debate on your footing for 16 pages, and then threaten to ban you once you start pointing out the many flaws in his arguments. Worst moderator on shroomery, very uncivil, vulgar at times, and when he loses a debate, he threatens to use his moderator powers. Vast double standards, tells me not to argue science in the political discussion global warming thread, threatens to delete my post if it argues science, and then continues to argue science.

I've had many encounters with phred and he is a partisan nutjob who will: refuse to provide sources, refuse to acknowledge your point if it conflicts with his worldview, threaten to ban you or lock the topic if you persist in a line of debate he does not want to hear, attack left-wingers for violating rules but not right-wingers unless he is shamed into doing so, he'll often be the first to initiate insults in threads, oh and he'll kick any topic out that actually discusses the science behind global warming (unless it's from a right wing source and uses the word fraud or hoax).
