Museum of Contemporary Art: 'Ecstasy: Altered States" exhibit
      11/19/05 12:15 PM

My girlfriend and I are heading into that time of the semester where the work begins to pile up, and we had a few grams of shrooms left, so we decided to eat them before we got too mired in term papers and exams. So yesterday we each had 1.5g, the last of our stash, and explored downtown Los Angeles. It was great... 82 degrees, and thanks to Santa Ana winds, clear as LA ever gets... we could see the San Gabriel mountains in great detail, awesome.

We came up in a Japanese underground mall, full of acupuncture shops, herb vendors, it was kind of unsettling... but then the come-up ended, our brains shifted into triping gear, and we entered the Museum of Contemporary Art for the Altered States exhibit.

It was amazing... a warehouse subdivided with different rooms that influence your mindstate... one room was painted completely white, with curved walls; it made you think you were standing in an infinite white void Another room is full of geometrically organized green lights, another had strobes and dripping water, endless, awesome trip rooms. Really fun.

After MOCA we walked through Chinatown to Not A Cornfield, which is a 'living scuplture' designed by artist Lauren Bon... basically, its a 1.2 mile long cornfield in the heart of Los Angeles. Its an intense juxtaposition, especially on mushrooms.

Thats about it. If you are in the southern california area, take a low dose and see the Altered States exhibit!

PS Pics DO NOT do it any justice... there are about 20 different rooms, all of them equally and insanely trippy and awe inspiring. check it out if you can
