The test was really easy. I went in drunk, nodding out on Percocet, and passed. It was actually two tests. The first was timed and something like 50 questions. You rip through the first 30-35 thinking WTF, and then the last ones crush you. Almost nobody finishes all the questions.
The second test, the lady read a story, which I was nodded out through half of, then you take a test that has nothing to do with the story, and is like "Which One Doesn't Belong" from Sesame Street. After that part, there's some questions about the story.
I was rather upset at myself for going in as I did because the test cost $40 or so. But, I passed, so fuck it. It's almost time to renew membership, but I don't think it's worth it. Maybe if I find some people on here though...

There's a sample test on their website. In retrospect, it is not very representative of what I took, but it probably tests the same skills/functions/whatever.

Nope. I really don't have much to do with them, my rents wanted me to take the test when I was younger, so I did.

I've thought about it... is there some benefit?

I'm part of the only intelligence group of any meaning, that is part of the academic community of scientists. Shocking to me that people would believe mensa has anything to do with intelligence.

Are you a scientist or a lab tech?

yeah, because literature, art, philosophy, the social-sciences, etc have nothing to do with intelligence, right?

Either way, only his intelligence has any meaning. Unless you're a scientist too.

I'm not necessarily saying that, however how do you read a book and say that the author is a genius. Some authors I would agree it is apparent, such as Joyce or Pynchon. However if we are just talking about a group of people, I think anyone that does serious scientific research is probably going to have above average intelligence.

You get to brag to people about what a superior intellect you have. You can stump people in an argument by saying, "Are you a member of Mensa? Didn't think so. I win!"
