I don't see the point in locking membership. If you shut people out they're just gonna go out in the world without their questions answered and end up spreading ignorance, fucking up grows, and at worst getting someone killed because they do some really stupid drug-related shit.
As I see it this is a community, not a special club. I do kind of agree with the test thing though. I've seen forums where they force you to read through the FAQ and answer some questions before you're allowed to post.

On a side note: I bet if for every 10 noobs 8 of them were female, most guys here would not complain about inane questions or comments. Hell they'd go out of their way to welcome/rate/answer/comment anything they say so long as there is a pink little person under their name. Just an observation.
