I dont know why, but I am getting a little paranoid about growing some of my favorite fungi. I was wondering if any of you had tricks that you used to hide your bins or jars.

I put my bins in the middle of the room and pretended they didn't exist. No one ever noticed for months until I told them. It's easy to hide things if you put it right in front of peoples faces.

I have actually been using the "purloined letter" trick for a while now. Right now, they are next to a stack of bins used for books and such, and the side, where you would see the fruits, are shielded from direct view with unfolded boxes leaning against them.
edit: Anyone ever have a dream that they wake up with DEA agents standing over your bed? I think thats what instilled the paranoia. Stupid dreams.

I like the LED accent lights from lights of America (in my signature) Frankly I cleared out a cabinet, out all the tubs in and when the light is on a have a heavy black towel block out all light seeping threw, when the light cycle is off I move the towel.
I haven't actually used the set up yet, but once it is ready, it will be super stealth, especially since I have a chair in front of it, people would have to be an ass to move it and start snooping around.

just keep everything to urself. and do like he said.. if its out in plain sight ppl look over it n never notice but not always. id be more worried about a FC then a bin full of jars.. that aint no thing... theres lids. What house does have tons of bins full of shit.(junk) Keep ur blinds closed. Give them light in the day time. Maybe if you should really just stop smoking weed. #1 reason why ppl get paranoid. Grow off n on that works too.

I have an old frige that looks just about live everyone else that sits out in the garage or basement or sunporch what ever. Unless you were to open it then you wouldn't know what is inside. They are also really well insulated so that helps a ton. If its old and beat up and nasty looking on the outside then no one is likely to go looking in there for a snack anytime soon. Heck you could go to the local dump and grab one for free, remember it doesn't have to work.

Jars you can hide anywhere,any old shelf will do for jars(Keep the boxes the jars came in to make it easier and never waste your time with an incubator)its the closet that sounds like its alive always having a cool mist clicking on and off cause of the damn greenhouse that is suspicious,I have been contemplating growing edibles quite a bit lately since I can not grow cubes anymore

Cultivate edibles until you get over it. I do edibles and I tell EVERYONE that I grow mushrooms. Anyone asks why I'm buying jars, vermiculite, 50lbs of rye, etc.. I'm just like 'I grow fungus' they ask why I say 'To eat, of course!' and then they're like what?! and I finish with 'I grow mushrooms, haha. Like Shiitakes and Portabellas' (people only know those kind, so I stick with em to make it simple)

Thank eats bro. He's a really good guy. I just wish he posted here more often. He mainly hangs out at 'topia though since he is a mod. Check his posts. He really knows his shit and I have learned a ton of stufff from him despite thinking I knew it all as far as this hobby goes.

i live with several people, luckily i do have my own room.
i use plastic rubbermaid boxes and place them inside cardboard moving/storage boxes. get a box with a lid if you can.
stack a couple up in your closet using one or two for supplies one for colonizing and one or two for fruiting.
the hardest part about this is taking them out for fanning and light.
for fanning just lock your door to fan them out whenever needed.
for light, take them out and put a lamp over them overnight. just keep your door locked, and maybe a towel under the door to block the light from shinning under the door.
label your boxes "storage" or "Old books" and tape the lids on so that it looks like its never touched.
of course don't copy this to the letter, but you get the idea.
nobody i live with knows whats in my closet

I did rate him just now,I did mark that thread for future reference so I'm sure I will check out more of his posts as well,amazing how no matter how much you know you always find something new to try out or a new idea to contemplate,sometimes what you will be trying a week from now comes from some offbeat idea someone just came up with now and before you know it everyone is doing it.I love the way this hobby evolves that way.People trying new things all the time.As they say you learn more from your failures than your success
