Same for me.  Hell, getting blunt wraps was harder than getting weed.

Not really; I'd call worrying about getting caught by the police, dealing with sketchy dealers who jack up prices, and trying to get a hold of a hookup generally makes getting illegal drugs a lot harder than getting legal ones.

A blunt wrap can only be sold to 18+ kids; if you're under 18, it doesn't count as being legal for you to buy.

umm... so what are you proposing? it's already illegal for people to consume pills for people without prescription. are you encouraging this behavior over legal marijuana use?

Not for children who get carded when they go to liquor stores.

No, I'm just saying the ability for doctors to prescribe legal pharmaceuticals makes it far more likely for people to use them over drugs such as heroin or cocaine.

Just look at how rampant Adderall or Ritalin abuse is.

so? making things illegal creates a black market, the cons of illegalization of drugs is far more than legalizing

How so?  If something is legal for me to buy, this means that I can walk into a store and purchase it whenever I feel like it.  If it's illegal, I first have to seek out a black market source, hope I won't get ripped off, and wait for his shady supplier to get the goods.

Legal vs. illegal dictates the convenience of getting a product.

If someone steals your car, are you going to personally track them down, beat the shit out of them, and take the car back?

If someone kills your wife, are you going to personally do the forensic investigating?

of course personally i as one person cannot do that. but as an organized libertarian society it would work much better.

your argument is the same as anti-gun proponants, people should not have guns, but only rely on police.

My point is that a legal but restricted drug (alcohol) is harder for a child to get than a drug that is completely illegal. Because when the drug is legalized it can be properly regulated.

Legalizing gives the government more money through taxes and decreases organized crime, sure.

It also makes it more likely for people to try substances that they wouldn't ordinarily try.  Most of you are speaking from a biased perspective where you have many peers and friends who do drugs.  But the majority of Americans do not use illicit drugs, nor do they support their use.  Making things legal removes the deterrent of jail-time and makes it more likely for non ordinarily-drug using people to try it out of curiosity.

Dunno if that's necessarily true.  Are you saying MDMA is easier to get than booze at college?
