I don't know what cultures had acess to both types of mushrooms.
Personally, I like the way mescaline and psilocybin compliment each other.
(I once had a prescription for some pills called soma - and lortabs, I believe. Felt good and intoxicated at night, but couldn't remember shit in the morning.)

Soma is a muscle relaxant, probably took the name from Huxley's Brave New World, where he took the name from the Vedas.
I'm a purist and do not mix chemicals. I exercise one neurotransmitter stressor at a time for very specific results. When I was a kid in a home lab, I used the scientific method for results. Other kids got a chemistry set and just mixed things randomly, getting nothing useful and nothing they could replicate if they found it interesting, because they didn't proceed methodically. Same with eating chemicals.

I am grateful to everyone here for sharing their views. There is too much negativity amongst us though... as we are all here for the same reason. We are trying to find a purpose, something to fulfill the unending urge inside of us. So let us help eachother to find an answer to the question. I have been meditating for approximately a year and a half. I have reached some very deep states under marijuana alone. I have reached much deeper states with lsd and marijuana. There is a problem with lsd though... this drug brings about alot of anxiety and can be very unpleasant at times. I have tried the lsd and amanita combination 2 times now. Unfortunately, the surroundings were not good for meditation, but I felt much better... much much better. anxiety was completely non existent, and I felt as if my soul could float away. I believe that with opium, I would be able to cross over (too what, I'm not exactly sure). I have seen alot of people suggest that amanita alone is the true soma. I have never taken this drug in high dosages alone, but I have heard about OBE's. Is an obe what I am looking for. not necessarily. What I am searching for is enlightenment. I think that enlightenment is realizing the infinite and unending existence. But to be an enlightened being, I feel that one must not be himself, but all living beings at the same time. Let me stress that I am not just looking to get really fucked up... I am looking for a catalyst to help bring about permanent change withing myself

because it's super fuckin' awesome.
Sorry, that "as long as it fucks me up good and proper, so who cares?" attitude is for little kids.
Acid and mushrooms together are an amazing experience, and it just so happens that I think amazing experiences are super fuckin' awesome. I don't think that "as long as it fucks me up good and proper, so who cares? attitude" is a good thing either. buttnut
