New XBox Live Experience,,,

I was just a tad excited to get a new interface and really excited to be able to stream NetFlix movies right to my box... The avatar thingy ala Wii Miis is kinda neat, and the ability to form "parties" then go from game to game is cool.
BUT...
I just found out we will have the ability to copy games to the hard drive!

I just can't wait to tranfer games to the HDD.... The disc drive on the Elite is like a fucking turbo fan sometimes and it annoys me!

I don't see the game copy things working as well as I hope, microsoft isn't a company to promote piracy, maybe games will load faster but still need to be booted from the disk.

Yeah, gamespot had a feature and they said it wasn't that much of difference in loadtimes or noise to justify copying to the harddrive.

Well, I just installed Fallout 3 to my Xbox HDD, and guess what? Gamespot was wrong.

It boots up, and the xbox seems to QUIET down. A dream come true!
Netflix streaming is having issues right now, but it seems to be on Netflix's side. I can't adjust my membership on their site... grrrrr.

You still need the disc in the drive to start it up, but once the game starts loading the drive goes just about silent. At that point, the disc is locked in the drive... I can only assume opening it will boot you from the game.
As a supporter of game studios, and reformed software pirate, I gladly pay the $60... but I want the SILENCE of a hard drive!!

I'm not so sure I like the interface....it seems cluttered. The old one was practical and efficient. I liked it.

I didn't get much a chance to check out NetFlix, but I thought it would be better.
I feel like I'm gonna get some sort of terrible reputation in this forum.

NetFlix sucks, they shouldve added support for more types of movie formats to be streamed.

I watched Super High Me, European Vacation and Scarface yesterday instantly and for free... I can't see how that sucks.
It's true the selection isn't super mega incredible, but it's 12,000 DVDs I can stream for free and it works flawlessly so far. Picture quality is DVD like, depending on your connection.
Anything I can't stream, they send me the BluRay or DVD.

I just added seasons 1 and 2 of the office (american and bbc available), second season of weeds, some anime, and a bunch of nature documentaries. This is fucking great!
I've heard that more movies will be added over time, too.

I sat in front of my TV with my laptop in hand. I added Scarface to my Instant Queue, and it appeared in my TV screen in about 5 seconds... My dad (old and computer retarded) was amazed like he saw a magic trick.
I said "remember how we had to have DVDs mailed?" and he said yes. I said I'm ordering Scarface, and told him to look at the TV screen.

So does the Xbox 360.
I guess Netflix is cool if you wanna pay for movies. The only thing that's really worth the update for me is the ability to install games now. Other than that its really just a new look, which I think is more cluttered than the original.

90% of the population has no idea what the fuck DivX is and doesn't mind shelling out the wallet crushing $8 a month for a simple service. I don't want to sit around dicking with bit torrent, movie piracy and file converters... I just wanna watch a movie.

"fuck paying for movies"

I hope someday you create something of value, so people can steal it from you without so much as a 'thanks for the effort'. Get a job.

i prefer the netflix, because when you pay for the movies you know they are all highest quality. you wont download some bootlegged version of whatever movie you want to watch. not to mention the selection is better AND its 100 percent legit.
but seriously i am now amazed at this. i can go from playing a game online to watching a movie from a huge choice list and the only time i have to get up is to piss or get another beer. im going to be obese by the end of the week.

There are two problems I see with NetFlix. I have to add movies to my queue through my computer. Why can't I just browse the titles on my XBox? The other gripe is it's fucking annoying trying to figure out what movies are available. Why can't there be any easily accessible list somewhere?

Jut browse under the "Watch Instantly" tab... Not sure if there is a "search" of just instantly viewable ones, but I like just browsing the pages... You can search by genre once you select the Watch Instantly tab.

Ok, so I'm watching my third movie of the night. This is fucking awesome. However, if they made shit a little more user friendly this would be the coolest fucking shit in the world.

Better selection and quality? lol
The 8gig x264 720p blu-ray rip of The Dark Knight I watched the other day was pretty great.
I haven't installed the update yet. I figure I'll wait a little bit to make sure there is no new ban wave due to a new detection method.

goto webpage, search "knight", left click, wait, bring up torrent window, right click, left click, double left click
that's all it took to start watching the dark knight on a 42 inch 1080p lcd with 5.1DD from a massage chair.
Don't fool yourself, the alternative is just as good (better imo) if you choose to use it. No less guilt free than researching spores either .
